I have used both systems extensively, and the Ford system from a tuning point of view is far more engine specific and several times more advanced than any aftermarket 'one size fits all' management system. The main advantage of the Motec is its on board motorsport based data logging. Which such a power and hardware limit in production I really question the relevance of detailed engine logging. Each to their ownThat being said I have not back to back tested edit v's Motec. However I would be *very* supriesed if there was any material difference between the power outputs of the best edit tune and the best Motec tune. The best Motec tune can be arrived at very quickly (far faster than edit).A fully optimised 8psi map with complete compensations PID boost control, and indepedent camshaft control for a BF would more than likely take us under an hour, starting from scratch, with a blank PCM.

The cars run Yokohama A048R control tyres. The engine mods are nil except from the ECU and exhaust as previously discussed. We have some slight freedoms in terms of getting additional negative camber.Absolutely no other mods are allowed - and the cars are scrutinised very closely - it is not uncommon for heads to be pulled off at the conclusion of race meetings.We must run a standard paper air filter.We run only the standard ford base model brake package.No intercooler / oil cooler changes are permitted. Nil inlet track changes.The cars on the most part a very reliable. However we have had some engine drama's over the last few years - most of the failures however are for different reasons. However a few items giving us grief - standard LSD (absolutely useless), you need to be gentle on the gearbox (regaudless of T56 or T5), the standard brake calipers warp / bend / crack after a meeting or two.The remaining driveline components are supprisingly resiliant - as long as they are not abused.Nick

It will be a credible alternative to the V8Supercar Circus.I don't know what cred it has but it came from the mouth of Harry Firth. I don't think he is one to "fabricate" something like this so I do believe the planning must be somewhat advanced for him to be spruking about it. I certainly hope it is true anyway.
