Warning Light...

A minor annoyance with the Toxic Beast was that the emission control warning light kept coming on. It wasn't flashing (so I know the cat was OK). A check of the book said that if the light came on, then there was a problem with the emission control.

A trip back to the dealer found no problems logged on the data info, so they re-set the system, told me the car was sweet to drive and bring it back if it happened again.

Of course it did. I kept driving the car (as emission control was not high on my list of performance priorities - and the service manager said it was OK) and the light would be on about 90% of the time.

I pinpointed that the light would come on when the turbo boost kicked in.

At the 3,000km check, they found that the problem was a loose intercooler pipe, have tightened it up and the car's sweet.

Sooooooooo, the moral of the story is, if your emission control light is on more often than it's off, get them to check the intercoooler connections!
