You spastic. (much love). Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/22981-weight-savings-for-xr6ts/page/5/#findComment-434907 Share on other sites

A space frame? Why not a aluminum honeycomb monocoque?Sodium filled valves (lighter than solid)Where's the Beryllium block & head? Beryllium exhaust housing and turbine with CF compressor?Though really, a ceramic block might be better.Hi-temp composite can replace most of that silly aluminum under bonnet.Magnesium/filament wound CF wheels?A metal drive shaft? Are we living in the 20th century or something? What happened to filamant wound hybrid composite?Carbon/carbon calipers and discs to save having any fat on it at all. Methinks you just rushed your little list, didnt you? Posted 14/09/06 04:09 AM Share Posted 14/09/06 04:09 AM Now now, be realistic wont you.....Sidium filled, pfft. Lets save 50 grams, joy.Beryllium, pfft. What, you making explosives? Rocket ship nozzles or something? I don't think you can cast it either, the melting point is too high....The rest is like, maybe a 5kg saving in total, so who cares. You just took it too far dude...... mwhaha My nanopaint is more effective Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/22981-weight-savings-for-xr6ts/page/5/#findComment-435586 Share on other sites

Melting point is about 1850 *CIt's just extremely toxic as vapour or dust. Remeber to open the window when using it in the shed and she'll be right. Only good things..... Many good things. This has got me interested in beryllium and its uses now... And away I go to research Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/22981-weight-savings-for-xr6ts/page/5/#findComment-435783 Share on other sites

The XR6T is a heavyweight cruiser - not a racecar. Why can't we have some serious replies? What lighter car are we going to buy with the same performance for the same money? Some people don't want to be driving around in 10 year old WRX STI's Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/22981-weight-savings-for-xr6ts/page/5/#findComment-875076 Share on other sites
