Hey Guys,

Well the run in on my BF T is still underway, up to 750K's now, it feels like a life sentence not being able to open it up more... not long now!!!

Just a question about the first oil change, now some on this forum have said it should take place around 1000k's, what does everyone think about this? Necessary or not, or do I ask Ford to do it during the complimentary 3000k's check up which I can't see that it is part of the service they offer. What has everyone else done during run in?

Also do you request Full Synthetic Oil or just let them use what they normally use, whats best for the Turbo?

I waited until 3,000km.

When you change it make sure you use mineral oil, magnatec is a good choice.

Also feel free to open her up, they like a good thrashing and will be better for it.

I also waited for the peace of mind service at 3000km for the first change. Good to hear that you are not thrashing as some do from day one.

The other suggestion which I think is quite valid is not to change over to a full synthetic until the 15,000 service. If you want to go full synthetic.

There is nothing wrong with magnatec that Ford use (different trade name) but the changes should be done every 7,500km. Every garage and dealer mechanic have spoken told me this.

The same mechanics also suggested if I went to synthetic them still change every 7,500km. At the price of synthetic I stuck with Magnatec changes every 7,500km.

I should have mentioned always change the oil filter, but I guess that's common sense. Other good links on this forum.

Do a search on synthetic in this forum, plenty of results.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I'll definately be asking for the new filter & oil change at 3000k's then.

Also sounds like the 7,500 is the way to go too.

Time to hit the road and click up some more k's...

To give you some peace of mind.

I changed to full syn oil at 5000 km's used all it's power from day one.

Change oil every 5000 k's as the turbo does get very hot.

Have done 109000 km's now still does not use oil and oil is always clean.
