Edit For A Bf F6

Hopefully get the new beast soon, have read many an EDIT thread here, and am looking for a little EDIT advice for my situation. I'll be getting a manual BF phoon and am thinking of going the EDIT once shes all settled and everything (whatever that means).

As for advice, one smart cookie here mentioned for example, that he specified a max boost level, for the tuner to work with. That way, tuner X would extract good power etc, without the risk (or with reduced risk perhaps), of blowing sh*t up. Something like that.

What should I realistically aim for with a stock BF phoon? What can I expect?

I don't want to sound like a chump when I walk into someone's operation. I'd rather save that for you guys here

I just want a good reliable tune, with respectable power, that won't see me sitting on the side of the road crying after a few blasts around the block.

About the flash unit itself:

What do you guys have in the 3 'tune' slots?

I was thinking I'd have the first tune with my factory ECU prog. Can that be downloaded? For the other two slots, I was thinking of a 95 RON tune, and a 98 RON tune.

I dare not ask for tuner recommendations, but a heads up on places to talk to in the south eastern suburbs of Melb would be appreciated. I'm not sure I'm aware of them all. Any in SA?

These guys aren't the cheapest, but IMHO, the best.

Check their forums, Simon (the head guy there) answers all sorts of tech questions, and is very approachable.

If you want to pay for a well-grounded package that is guaranteed not to pop, then he's your man.

My mods as per my sig , and I am running peak boost at just over 14PSI.

Given most manual Phoons are running ~ 220-230rwkw stock, an edit should safely provide around 260ish rwkw. Just make sure the AFRs are nice and safe and power isn't being made by just jamming boost into it.

I am running 3 maps in addition to std

1/ Everyday map 312rwkw 98 ron

2/ 95 Ron Fuel map

3/ Valet Map rev limited std boost

As I am manual 1/4 miles are not my focus , just plenty of useable low down grunt available .I hope this helps

With BF Using a different ecu, will edit still work? Or do you need to wait for an update?

Street tuner said they have the BF all mapped out, so editing the BF will not be a problem. They will even be able to get around the Euro3 crap.

Euro3 crap? What is this you speak of?

Euro3 is the new standard for emissions.

All cars build from 2006 MUST be Euro3 compliant.

I do not have all the details, but cars need to monitor their emissions and if they are exceeding the stated level, they will change their engine management to correct the problem. If the ECU cannot correct the problem, the Check Engine light will come on and it must be taken back to a dealer.
