Sorry to do a 'Mythbusters' on you dudes, but all the BF programs are now in the CAPA database, and we have done plenty of testing. No problems. Theres some real interesting things in there too....like the independent cam control for turbo cars, it exists all right in the form of a separate exhaust camshaft retard map.....which is full of '0's from the factory. In other words they have it...and dont use it. Plenty of gains for the smart tuners there.

50rwkw out of a BF 'T' with a tune? No probs!

I thought the whole idea of having independant valve timing is that it actually works, not all "0" as such - effectively doing nothing.

Good tuners will be worth the weight in pure gold and diamonds soon. All in the computer map settings.

You would think so, but in the BF XR6T instance someone, somewhere has intentionally chosen to leave cam control 'dual'. The normally aspirated cars are a different story with the exhaust cam being retarded further than the inlet at high rpm. :spit:

Martin,

It is good to see you guys on top of the BF side of things.

Will people be able to use their BA flasher on the BF with new maps ?

I was worried I would be waiting for 2 years for the BF Edit.

Is there anything you can do with the gearbox, or is it too early to tell.

BF engine tuning software development is finished. The transmission calibration is a whole different kettle of fish due to the ZF six speed being non-similar to anything in the US. I would expect that by January we will have total control of the six speed functions. As it is stall converters and the like are already good to go.

And yes, your BA Flash Tuner will work on your BF!

From what I gather, the pcm is flashable and that solves the 'map' issues.. That's easy, stick in a tune and away u go.. But what F6 and Zap are saying is if there is a target AFR or result ( voltage ) from the combined O2 sensors or whatever that is aimed for by the pcm, can this be manipulated by edit?

If it's in a different part of the pcm, will the flash tuner be able to access it??

Retarding the exhaust cam on a N/A engine could give better gains In fact you need to look at it the other way they are sort of advancing the inlet. Retarding the exhaust that far on an Turbo would be a problem due to back pressure between the turbine wheel and exhaust valve. This pressure would re enter the cylinder with lots of exhaust retard. Causing poor power and detenation. Remenber emmisions are not done at any thing like full throttle.
