Heres a 1/4 mile registry of Magna'shttp://ostat.com/dave/magnaregistry.htmlAlso, the 380 has 172kw's, its lighter, doesnt suffer the same fate of 25% drivetrain loss as our RWD's. Which will easily outpace the XR6 (non turbo of course) once again in stock form. I love it when people just spit on a car because its 'not rwd' or 'a ford' when they really have no clue what they are talking about.

Theyve got a long way to go yet.. As it stands 65% of todays cars on Australian roads are imported vehicles. This is increasing each year. Edited 25/09/05 03:26 PM by Bain

It does suffer drivetrain power loss, and if anything a greater coefficient (a 163kw magna has 111kw's at the wheels, or a 32% loss). As for weight, the last model magna was over 1500kg's, and believe the new one is heavier (an XT weighs 1628kg's), so there's less than 8% more weight with 10% more power, if the gearing is similar the magna would have no chance of beating, however I'd expect them to be pretty similar. On a side note, anyone seen the figures on the alloytec commodores? The only one I've seen is an auto executive 0-100 in 9.2, 0-400 in 16.5, this is slower than the 3.8 isn't it? I know the SV6 6 speed is as quick as the 5 speed 182 falcon. Anyone else notice the disappearence of that v6 dyno add? That make's me laugh.

Both ford and Expensive Daewoo have a big following which will not be easily converted to the other side (It can happen, I'm proof)... Mitsu once they get started with the 380 will simply be seen as the other side by most, with out the 30 or 40 odd years of history behind them...I don't think Mitsu did their homework on this one... It would have been great to see them launch something like this when the company was on top as they could have afforded to spend the time building up the reputation, but right now they can't afford the years required to build up the status as an Aussie icon... (let's face it, that's what both ford and Expensive Daewoo are...)

And that's without the gruntier 190 BF engine and 6 speed manual.I'd imagine the 3.8 will be too much of a handful for a FWD chassis, torque steer here we come.
