Just bought myself and mk 2 t 6speed and have been reading up on mods and best value for money options and have decided to go for a unichip or aps stage one kit but have noticed that aps recommed that you do your valve springs with this kit is it necessary and what does ford say about these mods regarding your warrenty with the car

great site and is good to read everyones comments and advice

Can I ask why you would go with the unichip over an edit?

Having had both Unichip and edit - I would suggest definitely going with the edit.

There is much in other posts on this topic - but the end result is much much better IMO with edit. :crybaby:

Valve springs are a good idea - particularly if you would like to increase your rpm limit (only possible with edit... ) or for sustained high load - but not strictly necessary with a stage 1 mod.

Good luck!! :spoton:

With warranty - strictly - either will void your drive train and engine warranty, but this will depend on your relationship with your dealer, and ability to revert to stock...

forget the unichip....go for the edit :crybaby:

also you dont need valve springs... the mk11 has the same valve springs as the phoon :spoton: if its a mark 1 you will need to change valve springs

#4

if you modify be aware that you may lose warranty... the beauty with the edit is that the dealer cant prove that you have it

Shame your in bris Nizpro give a 20,000k warrenty with there stage 1. Depending how much power you make will then determin if valve springs are needed. Mk2 spring are not the same as typhoon YET they are just a different colour to mk1 due to batch identifacation
