They do totally stupid things with no consideration for the consequences that may occur. He should be banned from the track for life ... the marshall was very lucky, he could just as easily have had his head taken off.yeah exactly and then there would a big hoohaa and calder park would be closed!!!!Dave. Posted 20/05/05 01:14 AM Share Posted 20/05/05 01:14 AM There obviously needs to be some sort of regulation with regards to sheilding the turbines so that if something does let go, the teams, officials and spectators are protected... This is what, the 3rd time in the last year that a turbine has let go?A simple double insulated, double laminated glass sheild (heat insulation on both sides of a 3 layer glass lamination... Its a cheaper, thinner version of bullet proof glass, but works just as good) would have prevented this from happening.... Might cost the team about 200 bucks, plus some screws and a metal brace... Nasty for the marshall....<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Nah dude, that's an exhaust turbine...but yeah, that was one lucky marshall...Dave.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Spot on fordboy that is the turbine side so maybe he had no exhaust/mufflers/ system on her and it let go and shot straight out the pipes.....Scary stuff if your in range.Might be time to introduce some sort of regulation regarding exhausts but I cant see it as Most Drag cars run straight out the pipes although most point upward so maybe ther is some law as to what dirrection the pipes face? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>chances are though, that the turbine would have cut straight through the side of an exhaust anyways and maybe even through the side of the car, so pointing it up probably wouldnt have stopped this, to be honest it was a mechanical failure, the cars owner wouldnt have expected it to happen and neither would anyone there, an accident.Dazza.
