Anyone know how far Coffs/Yamba is from Sydney? WhiteTee? Also from Canberra, Miss Kitty perhaps?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Lumper Coffs is about 6 hours even from the Northwest of Sydney, with Yamba around 75 - 90 mins further on again. With a large number of vehicles you could add 30 mins to this. Hope this helps

Cheers WhiteTee,

I must admit I forgot about the: 'Half of Convoy Head North and the other half head South Syndrome'

I found the one time I went to Coffs (from Yamba) it took about 70 mins but that was a bad traffic day.

I suppose people would also have to account for the Black Flash  and the Grey Nomad :spoton:

At the least but. I would say it would have to be a four day weekend. Ie: Leave early Friday, get up this way by around 4 then head home Monday. That would give 2 days and 2 nights.

As for a date, I'd say sometime in winter? Outside of the school holidays, let you southerners warm up a touch?

Lumpy

South West Rocks sounds OK - any further north may be difficult from my place or Canberra. Also, I'm taking at least one week off work, maybe two, during the July school holidays so if it was at that time the distance thing wouldn't worry me as I'd be coming from over Nyngan way or down from Brissy. It would still be an issue for the Canberra guys.

The other thing to consider is that if I do take time off during the holidays it might be difficult to take more time off close by that period - so what I'm saying is whatever venue is chosen I'll just have to fit in best I can if I'm able to make it at all.

I'm keen at this stage, not bothered how long it takes as long as it's a fun route. Not the boring pacific/new england way...

:msm: Count me in :msm:

Coff,s is a good half way point for the Sydney / Brissy guys.

Lot's, to do as well.

I took the T up in March and went for a run up the Waterfall way to the rainforrest near Dorrigo. Great run up the mountain and it only takes an hour from Coffs.

Another good bypass on the way up is to take the Buckets Way through Stroud, Gloucester etc, great country roads. (adds about a bit over an hour to the trip, all tar)

Just a thought, what about the June long weekend.

I,m also a Yamba boy and went to high school at Maclean.

Regards

Creepy.

Well there you go, another Clarencian. :w00t2: Thaaats 3 now! I'm from over the Lake.

If it's to be Coffs I must admit I don't know much about the place. Ie where to stay or what to do, who to talk to etc, but if people can point me the way I can do some groundwork.

It's all pretty much one area though. What you can reach in 1 hour from Coffs might only take 1 1/2 a back way from Yamba (Glenreagh road etc?). Apparently Sawtell is worth a look and there's a steam train up the hills near Bellingen too I think.

June sounds OK, anybody else? Ummm, when are the school holidays Turbo6man? The big thing with the school holidays is that everything is more expensive and the good raods are full of :msm: camrys..... :gooff:

I think it took us about 6 hours to get to Coffs when we went up from Sydney's south western suburbs.

It was pissing down rain all the way, and we drove through 25-50cm floods when we got near coffs, and it lasted all the way out of coffs too. So in dry conditions maybe 5 hours?

On the way back it took us 4odd hours I think, but there was a lot of time spent on the wrong side of the road at high speeds.... :msm:

Syd - Canberra takes about 3 hours at speed limit as I found out tonight.....hey there is a first time for everything

And I had no part in this driving on the otherside of the road business. It's just unlike me. :msm:
