Just wanting to see if there is any interest in a combined cruise (mostly NSW/Qld/ACT) heading to somewhere on the Far North Coast of NSW.

Some people have suggested Coffs Harbour (there are a few members there), which I don't know nothing about but I think somewhere else...like maybe...Yamba  would be cool too

Yamba's about 6 or 7 hours from Sydney taking it moderately OK and about 3 hours from Brissy. Also, its moderately warm over winter we are still having 32 degree days.

In Coffs Harbour there are a few things of note including a Porpoise Aquarium thing (maybe the guys from Coffs can help a bit more here...Blonk? Phucknuckle?Glennskies?) and more.

In Yamba, there is a jetboat thing, a few nice beaches, a couple of alright day trip ways with some nice roads, also if people wanted I could also get a BFO fresh seafood lunch/dinner thing happening too, in Ulmarra. I know accomodation ranges in Yamba from around $65 a room to some uber 4.5 star massage resort thing for $150+.

Also there is a kickarse, awesome view pub where one forummer and his band will shortly be playing at too, so that could be a night out :spoton:

Of course, no trip would be complete without loading up the T's with mountains of fantastic glass from a...errr...mate :msm: ....in Ulmarra... :spit:

There is Optimax (Grafton) and Ultimate available in Maclean (15 mins away)

Anyway, I just thought I'd see if anybody was interested at all in the idea. If I am stealing anybodies job just tell me

Good idea but somewhere just a tad closer to Sydney might be better for us who will be travelling from Canberra/South Coast region.

Where does three to four hours north of Sydney get us???

#3

There are quite a few places we could go. All depends on what people want to do and how far they'd be willing to travel.

Coffs is a good halfway point for the Syd/Bris folk (about 5-6hrs travel either way).

Yamba is nice too (I am a Clarence River boy after all) and I would love to get a group shot of everyone's T on the old Lawrence Ferry....

I do have a great idea for a finishing run... take the Gwydir Hwy up the range from Grafton to Glen Innes. A good 20-30km of uphill twisty bits followed by a good run on the plateau towards the New England Hwy, where we can then split for the return run home. On a side note, it would make it easy for us Sydney folk to come home via Putty Rd too... :spoton:

Just some pseudo-random thoughts. Anyone willing to help with ideas and planning should PM the Lumpster and myself.

That puts you around the Port Macquarie-Taree-Forster area. Means a good 7-8hr trip for Goldie, Sally & co. :spoton:

Some good roads around there too, especially near Wauchope.

The road throught to Ebor (is this the one you talking of Lord Cyric, or is that the Armidale road?) has been recently tarred to, that was great fun in the dirt but apparently nicely hotmixed now.

The Lawrence ferry would hold a few T's (about 35) that would be a good shot. Especially if early morning with red hued sky and mist rising off the river (woken up there a few times :spoton: )

Also, I fogot to mention there is a nice hillclimb tarred track (though a touch narrow) just near Grafton too, would be a bit of fun I'd imagine

Um I suppose a bit further south would be Port Macquarie or Kempsey, Turbo6man. I have no idea about allllll the way down there but :spoton:

Anyone know how far Coffs/Yamba is from Sydney? WhiteTee? Also from Canberra, Miss Kitty perhaps?

I think it took us about 6 hours to get to Coffs when we went up from Sydney's south western suburbs.

It was pissing down rain all the way, and we drove through 25-50cm floods when we got near coffs, and it lasted all the way out of coffs too. So in dry conditions maybe 5 hours?

On the way back it took us 4odd hours I think, but there was a lot of time spent on the wrong side of the road at high speeds....

Syd - Canberra takes about 3 hours at speed limit as I found out tonight.....hey there is a first time for everything

Just a few Ideas for those not wanting to travel as far as Coffs........

South West Rocks is about 1hr & 15 Mins South of Coffs...........quiet little Coastal Town.....very pretty area with nice Histrical Land Marks...... Trial Bay Gaol etc....

The Band is playing down there in 2 weeks.........but management of the Country Club will be making some more Bookings with us for the June/July Period.

Plenty of Accomodation from Camping/Caravan Parks/Cabins/Motels & Resort Style also.

Only about 45 mins Nth of Port Macquarie and almost smack in the middle of Sydney & Brisbane.

Any suggested dates for this event??
