Stock Exhaust Limit?

Hi All,

Once I get my T it wont be long till it heads into HPF (will do around 3000km's before taking it in) for an edit and perhaps some springs + injectors.

My question is will the stock exhaust handle around 260rwkw's??

My initial aim was to get around 245rwkw's but then I figured while its in for a tune I may aswell put the injectors and springs in and moderately tune it to 260rwkw's till the engine clocks up a few more K's

So can the exhaust handle that? or should I just tune it to a lower 240 - 245kw's and not worry about the springs/injectors until later down the track?

A few of the guys have run past 280 with the stock exhaust.

Yes, they pick up massive gains at this point when they use a custom made exhaust system, but they made their original numbers relatively easy with the stock system as well....

I think 260 would be a happy medium. The pressure wouldn't be excessive, so power wouldn't be limited to the same degree if you were aiming at, say, 280+. So go for it mate.

[Edit] Yes, a high flow cat would make this task even easier (free 5 - 10 kw). You know what I mean....

If your going to the trouble of doing injecters and springs you might as well do the exhaust.I ran mine to 260rwkw but the gains werent worth the boost I needed to make it so I ran with 235rwkw.With exhaust done my gains were huge on 2psi more than the 9psi it took to make 235rwkw.295rwkw was the result on 11psi.

How noisy are they with the center muffler removed?

What sort of power gain would you expect with Cat removed, and centre muffler removed, cold air intake made (budget tuning at this stage)?

I have the centre muffler removed and its loud but not extremely loud, sounds ok to, sounds beefy I think

Edit only, no centre muffler and a bit of cruelty to animals (I mean, the Cat = Hi-Flowed Cat) and got 246.8rwkw in an auto.

Many people say the stock Exhaust is good for 300rwkw plus even, hunt around the threads and you'll soon answer your own Q.
