as I almost have the parents convinced I was wondering how the handeling is of the car. Is it really that light that is's unbareable or are MOTOR just trying to pick things out to make the BA and VY look similer in the value factor.

LIGHT!! - At more than 1700 kg's, I don't think so.

You must be referring to the steering, and the answer is NO.

I think your parents will find the whole package very attractive, and certainly a vast improvement on anything Ford has done in the past.

Best of luck with your convincing efforts :innocent:

Factory cars are built on compromise. A cost compromise.

I would disagree with the people who say the XR suspension is excellent. It may be ok for running around town, but put it into a off camber corner at some speed and you'll learn the where the cost compromises are. ie soft rear springs....

Having pushed my one around the track with a GPS measuring G forces and so on, I can say there is plenty of room for improvement in the suspension, plenty!

True enough for those who are going to flog their car on the race track....but lets face it most of us are just driving around town with the occasional squirt here and there. IMO the suspension is just great for a standard production car and quite respectable for the price.

BTW good luck convincing the folks to buy you an XR6T

I agree Richdave, and with you too Esky. that's's why I advised earlier that the handling is excellent for me. But if your taking this car to the extremes, even the Subaru WRX STi etc.. mods need to be done to the car. It's funny as well, people who are lucky enough to own Ferrari's, Porche's etc....there are chips to increase the torque and kilowatts, so therefore no matter what car you have, it's on personal preference.

Handling wise it is good and surefooted with remarkable compliance/roadholding for quick travelling over the less than perfect roads around my place. None of which resemble a race track. It being a heavier large car actually helps in the tourismo sort of environment. Especially in the wet.

I went from the coast to Tamworth in the pouring rain last Friday evening and the safety inherent in the suspension set up really impressed me. Everything bar the one aquaplane moment when the can hi running water across the road coming out of a corner at 120klms/hr and moved left a foot and a half before gaining grip. Had my attention then alright.
