It's a straight cat 5 cable which I have wired to 568A standard. The cable will not enable the computer to connect to the network ok, fine cable is probably stuffed tested on three devices all ok?

Had similar problem while ago.

I set the network interface of the PC and switch to 10mb half and it worked fine.

I think my cable run was too long for 100mb and for some reason auto detect didn't work..

Chris,

You may also find your protocol stack is corrupt.

If Cro's suggestion does not work, try removing the NIC and let it be found and installed again.

Check the ends on your cable.. We have a guy here who doesnt quite stick the wires right to the end of the rj45 plug which cause problems on some computers and not on others.. (it may only be one wire, but make sure all of em go to the end)

The other thing to test is unless you are running a switch set your network settings to 10mb half duplex or 100mb half duplex (depending on the hub)
