After debating whether to pay someone else to do my dirty work, I finally got of my arse tonight and regapped my spark plugs as per CAPA's instructions to me re: running the 10psi Edit map. I regapped to approx 0.85mm.

The results were good and bad.....

Good:

After about 5-6km of pretty average laggy driving the ECU seemed to adjust for the changes as I started noticing must more response and power. No more low rpm "pops" or surging. The whole impressison it gave me was that the thing was definitely reving quicker and making smoother power. Oddly when coming to a stop the old inconsistent idle seems to have cleaned up even more. So far I am happy.

The Bad:

I started noticing a bit more than normal air whooshing sound. I didn't think too much of it at the time because the thing was pulling so good that it wasn't like before when a pipe had come off and I lost instant power (just fiogured it was having the window down and stereo off - wrong...). On my way back home I decided to see how the improved tune on the 10psi would take to a 2000rpm clutch dump. Instantly went to rev cut, quick change to second, dump, spinning for a sec, opps, clutch pedal dissappears for a sec, burning asbestos next (definitely time for a new clutch :(

Got home, checked all hoses. Found what I thought was the culprit, retightened, back in the car. sh*t! still hear the whoosh. So I am left with mixed feelings (sh*t hot performance, fasting dying clutch, and mysterious boost leak).

Too late and tired for anymore guessing. Looks like I will have to wait until it is on the dyno next to find out where the leak is whilst it is under load (bit hard to do when driving!!!).

Anybody else had a similar problem? I suspect it is the actual throttlebody rubber joiner to the cross-over inlet thingy (like my technical terms?).

could be the hose off the turbo to the intercooler you should put a worm drive or proper turbo clamp on when running 10 plus psi boost

badxrt - good advice mate - I did this the first night I loaded the 10psi map in Decemeber as a matter of necessity then (pipe kept blowing straight off). This is another pipe that had a small but audible leak when you are under heavy acceleration.

I will wait to see what can be seen on the dyno. Thanks anyway :)

When I got my aps phase II they charged me for re-gapping the plugs to .85mm.

They said the car was breaking down at high rpm.

Now - When I change gear I hear a "flutter" sound and "if" I hit the rev limiter I hear a bap, bap, bounce (backfire) sound and I see smoke in the rear view mirror.

I try not to hit the rev limiter but it comes up too quick for my reaction time.

I will learn to catch it soon because I fear my cat may die :)

OH!

The shop replaced my factory hose clamp to the turbo because it poped off.

Hustler - seems to be localised in the middle of the bay (hence my suspicion it is the throttle body rubber joiner). It's difficult to really tell though as this might just be acoustics in the cabin. With the window down it is too difficult to tell since there is much more wind wooshing through when you are accelerating to try and hear where it is coming from. Nevermind - I'll suss it out.

1ute - I think the flutter is normal when you are dealing with more boost. I can hear the blow off valve dumping much easier (but this whooshing if whilst under acceleration and definitely a leak - sounds like my mate's turbo Xflow sounded when pumping through 23psi - in other words much too much air noise for 10psi)

The regapping plugs part was a little time consuming but easy (mainly because of cylinder 6 being a sh*t to get to with both the cover stud and the actual plug itself). A set of feeler guages and a small hammer and towel was all that was needed (I have just been too busy and lazy at night to do this before now).
