April 10, 200323 yr #3 Had me Bird 2 weeks and thought the traction control was off until I (ME) put it on Read the manual wrong Always thought this thing a little 'bogged down' at take off Now........Whooo Hoooo..... don't she fly The missus is now convinced I'm the biggest (and oldest) hoon in Mandurah :D Hey Silverhawk, glad you are in Mandurah, I hold the title of "oldest hoon" around Midland (at least in the eyes of my wife)."Car Freak" is another loving pet name thrown at me tonight as I contemplate which modification I am going to choose for my XR6T - Can't wait for the rush!!!
April 10, 200323 yr #5 Is there a light that indicates if it is on or off? I get my T on monday. Yes, there is a light at the bottom right corner of the instrument cluster. When the light is off, it means traction control is on. When it is on, it means traction control is off. This light will also flash on when traction control "kicks in", ie when it reduces the engine power. Traction control will always be turned on when you start the engine, even if last time you were in the car you turned it off.
April 10, 200323 yr #6 Is there a light that indicates if it is on or off? I get my T on monday. Traction control is 'on' all the time by default, and there is no light. When the wheels start to spin, the TC will kick in, and a light will come on (bottom right of instrument panel) to tell you its now doing something with the wheels/brakes/throttle.However, this is where is gets confusing, because if you want to deactivate the TC, you press a switch (below the fog light button), and the SAME light as above comes on to indicate that the TC is now off Whoever thought of that system was on some serious drugs that day :alien:
April 10, 200323 yr #7 As a interesting side line.... I thought I was going crazy when I thought the car had more power when TC was off, and thought it only came on when traction was lost, however chatting to the guy that did our 3000 k service , TC altered settings in the puter to limit power, all the time unless manually switched off...mmmmmmmmmmm

He must have had traction ON, while the ute of course doesn't have to put up with this silly intrusion on one's driving experience ...
April 11, 200323 yr #9 Author OOOHHH.....very catty Turbo6man, at least I've got a petrol cap release inside MY car :D :D Hi ninka glad there are some mature (and responsible......not!!) rev heads (I prefer performance connoisseur myself) out there to set the example to the baseball cap hoon generation, hope to see ya on the Tonkin Highway sometime
April 11, 200323 yr #10 Well to add something differant to this. My traction control lets the wheels spin everso slightly and doesn't impead my takeoffs one bit ( ask any local SS owner ) :D But it does kick in after just a slight kick out. Seems to do a good job in my car. Can the settings be altered by Ford service techs I wonder???
