Quad Exhausts

For those who have fitted the Quad exhaust outlet system (ie herrod) what do you think of them? Sound, performance on a stock T and cost etc.

Do they need any significant re-engineering of the underneath of the car and what happens to the rear bumber valance to accomadate the second set of pipes?

I saw some passing references to towbars being removed - does this mean they cannot be installed with any towbar fitted?

I would like to know this my self cause ive seen pictures on here with tow bars and dual exhaust outlets and some people say they needed to remove there tow bar

Ok! just a quick description,

After 400klm's my Herrod Quad system arrived, booked it in to be fitted only to be rung late in the day and told that I had to choose between the tow bar or the quad system as it wouldn't fit @#$&%^#@

I decided the tow bar was more important so they said they would fit a twin outlet system on that was in stock. (pic 1)

It had a good sound, maybe a bit loud (but no worse than the dual system on the XR8 I had traded) and with just a little bit to much drone, but overall not to bad.

wouldn't you know it!!! my next door neighbour comes home with a GTP fitted with QUADS!!! bye bye tow bar!!

It's now a fair bit quieter with no drone at all and I think it looks fantastic! The sound is a lot deeper than the twin setup and it seems to have lost a bit of that 6 pot roar in favour of a nice sounding snarl at most rev's.

love the set up and the pic is a perfect size once its fully loaded... any smaller and it wouldnt be good

I forgot to comment on the performance side of things.

As the car was still very tight when the Exhaust was changed it it a bit hard to say how much it improved things, however!! my first thoughts after picking up the car went something like! " I love this 6 speed and Herrod sure shift but GIVE ME MY V8 BACK" after a run to Rockhampton and back I have changed my mind!! although I still miss the sound and pure grunt of the XR8 there is something special about the refinement of the XR6T, It's like comparing a 2 stroke (XR8) to a 4 stroke (XR6T) in that the 8 has a fairly narrow power band compared to the T which just seems to keep going! and going!! (and it uses a lot less fuel if I behave myself)

This is my third BA with Herrod mods and by far the best although it is hard to tell how much of that is due to the Exhaust system.
