Ford said no they won't do it from factory... But I can get hold of the LCD screen/whole ICC section and the module ( as everyone can, me just cheaper....)

I was wondering if anyone has fitted it to a ute, or atleast seen it fitted... A sedan has been done, I know that.

What's involved?? anyone???

Thanks.

I don't think it's possible as every ICC is setup to run on an individual car...

I read in a car audio magazine that there is a company (not sure who) that are redesigning the front plate section of the ICC to include the ability to run an aftermarket headdeck but not loose the functionality (read ability to start car) from the ICC... basically, it'll look the same except there'll be a tv screen there.

I can give you the number of a guy I know who has been involved in the testing of this product if you want .. maybe you can find out a bit more info..

Matt

When you say it's setup up to ran on an individual car, you mean they run the scan tool over it, and tell the 'brains' that it's there. Yeah, I know that, and that's no problem...

The only problem I can see is controlling the dual zone climate??

I guess it all depends on who you are!

No pics at this page http://www.uteman.com/articles/pdf/Trekka.pdf but it's listed in the specs and I have seen the article in Australian Ute magazine. It definitely has the Premium ICC with dual zone climate control.

So yes, it can be done.

The problem is it needs new loom. Standard sound would be running an XT loom, or in your case an XL loom, but with the premium sound it runs a fairmont ghia loom I'm pretty sure. Plus the colour icc is worth thousands. Its a pain in the ass and its frustrating that ford has intergrated climate control and sound system in one. :spoton:

It's a pain in the arse that when I bought my ute and was prepared to pay good money to have it installed Ford said there was no way to do it.

Surely when a car is ordered and has to be built and you wait months for it they could do anything, the dash of a ute is the same as a sedan so what gives.

Vent over, spleen intact.

HVAC system is diferent for dual climate control also, ambient air sensor in LH exterior mirror (wiring loom through door also)........and theres probably a few other components I've missed.

.......BIG- read "expensive" job.

Well, if I order a new ute with prem sound, it shouldn't be a drama then because it would come with the required loom, yeah?

I can get the colour screen and module, prolly just need the temp sensor, and plug that in....

getting more promising..

cheers, any more info welcome

:censored: BABONG!! Sorry, in a ute you can option "Pretige Sound" as distinct from "Premium Sound". The difference being "Prestige sound" having the same display as standard unit, but capable of 6 disc's in the slot! (not entirely sure about speaker packages though) "premium Sound" having the larger colour screen & also 6 disc's.(only available for sedans) :spoton:

......Hope this helps!

Mark.

.........To answer your question, no it won't have the correct wiring loom.
