You bugger Eugene I was after that filter too on Ebay, waited till the last minute and started throwing in some bids, thought I had it, and stopped, good bidding dude, hopefully another will come along soon as I picked up the sellers APS Unichip $830.

So this weekend I'll be out doin the CAI mod and chasing up exhaust shops around town to see if anyone up here can make up center muffler removal pipes.

Or can I just buy a pre fabed center replacement with hotdogs from anyone in Sydney?

Looks great Eugene. I like how you have the pipe positioned. If you were to trim it a little and get the lower grill it would finish it off nicely. The extra power you feel is not imaginary either. Blown BA, JB, myself and others have all notiuced the same thing. Ford strangled the car in the factory to keep the power down. Once you have removed the centre muffler you might even get a little bit of over boosting when its real cold. Another sign that the car is breathing better.

Good work. As per geea and others it even sounds better when applying the right foot. I kept my intake above the lower grille to ensure that only air went down it and not water and other unwanted matter. Better fuel consumption is a mirage that many talk themselves into believing. Engines produce power by burning fuel not air, given a correct air/fuel ratio more air will mean more fuel which results in the greater power. Can't have one without the other as others have found.

dingah2, I agree with you in principal about the power v fuel issue, if you were to drive "on Boost" at all times then you will use more fuel for sure, but on the highway and 100kph country roads, which is where I do 75% of my driving at 105-115kph you are barley on the throttle, given more air, maybe even at a slight pressure, supplied to the turbo, instead of the turbo having draw the air from the air box, has to make it more efficient.

I am sure the economy is better on light to normal throttle, dash display has dropped from an average of 12.8L per 100k to 11.4L per 100k, same driving same time of day etc, so a few tank fulls will tell me.

I have a very accurate Vacuum/pressure gauge that reads from -15psi to + 25psi

I might try to plumb it into the intake between the turbo and airboat and do some tests at load, sy full throttle 40-140kph, cruise control on at 100kph, and do it with and without the K&N filter and with and without the CAI hooked up.

I will keep you posted.

I also done a cai today I used the ea or eb stock cai ( I think it is ) and I cut a hole in the frount of the box and put it in and it now sits just below the headlight I have pics to show

note: I have not finished need now fiberglass it in

for free I was down the wrekers looking for parts for the other halfs car and I saw this laying there and the guy said have it, and I already have the fiberglass at home because of my saling boat just didnt have time to fiber it down and it is much more responcive from 60 to 80

What is the size of the opening into the airbox? Would it be possible to get a flange to fit from Bunnings? Alot of people may not be proficient with fibreglass, and a flange and clamp maybe easier for them. If so this could be a great alternative and possibly the cheapest yet.

Cut your hole neatly and all you need is a bit of silicone ..black.. and bobs your air box!
