Also .... noticed this morning a spot of what appeared to be pinkish looking liquid near the front wheel , powersteering fluid ??. Didn't get underneath for a squizz as was P#ssing down Sorry probably dumb questionsThanks in advanceWT Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/12407-ecu-reflash/ Share on other sites

The reflash may affect your base maps which will obviously alter your current tune - possibly detrimentally. If you have no problems with your T, tell them not to flash the PCM.I just had my car go in for its 3000k service yesterday and I told the service manager NOT to flash the PCM, even IF there is a later calibration available. The only reason you would want to get it flashed is if you are suffering with stalling/high fuel consumption/driveline shunt issues. Some people have reported more problems after getting the flash done then they had before.Ross Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/12407-ecu-reflash/#findComment-155911 Share on other sites

Eg, if there was a driveline shunt issue at "3000rpm AND 50% throttle", and then Ford would revise the base map(s) to rectify this and this would be released in a new calibration version. The base maps control the engine over ALL operating parameters - RPM, TPS, ACT, ACT, MAP, etc etcAll the piggyback ECU does is "bend" the signals going to the PCM, but the PCM is still utilising the value in the base map for "3000rpm AND 50% throttle."To cut a long story short, if the base map is altered with a re-flash, your tune WILL be altered too.Ross Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/12407-ecu-reflash/#findComment-155965 Share on other sites
