If you look at one of my previous Posts, it saved my bacon one day on a greasy roundabout. But as I said at the time I was amazed at how quick it reacted, & the way it pulled the car back into line.

If this is the case, what sort of situation would occur with the ASC on the BF XR6T if the vehicle has an Edit & the power levels come up to the equivelant of the Typhoon. Is there any Member out there with an Edit on the BF & if so how does it effect the ASC ?
  3. obi posted a topic in Brakes
Does the Typhoon have ASC ? Looking at the Ford Website it doesn't appear to show anything.
  4. Brake shudder was pretty much eliminated with any model built in Oct 03 or later. I cant recall the change that was made but I can certainly advise that my Nov 03 has never had any brake shudder. ← Sorry to disagree, but I had a 11/03 build XR8 from new & it was a bastard on brake shudder. I got rid of it at 13,000 k's & didn't worry about chaseing the problem. The BF I have now is terrific, but that's probably because they have the Premium Brakes.
  5. That's well worth remembering
  6. Had the alignment done today. Toe in was fractionally out, but the main problem was in the rear end camber, which is a easy to remedy, back off the nuts & adjust the bolt & it's all over in a minute, (he said your lucky it's not a Commodore). Found out why it was pulling to the right, the tyre pressure in the r/hand back was down to 15psi helped along by a 2" screw embedded in it. Total damage for the alignment $65 for 10 minutes work plus $20 for the puncture. Plus I still have my Clunk!
  7. Well it looks like tightening the front up did something, the bugger is now pulling a bit to the right. Back in on Monday for a Wheel Alignment, should have got one while I was there.
  8. Do you mean Chip Torque at Nerang or is this someone else ?
  9. I think you will find that the BF XR6T runs a oil cooler the same as the F6.
  10. Tab, Had the whole front tightened. The Alignment bloke said that the nuts on the crossmember were loose, I said " How loose " & he said "about two turns". On driveing out I'm sure I heard a faint clunk as I was turning to the right. Will let you know after a couple of days as to the outcome, but I have a sneaky suspicion that its still there. I can't believe that it would be that loose after the Dealer said that it had been tightened. Have a sneaky suspicion that it may be the Rack. You can turn it lock to lock & there is no clunk, but this could change when there is pressure on the system in a turn. If they haven't fixed it than I feel that it is going to be a hard one to find, as it's intermittant.
  11. I have read this TSB & mentioned it to the Dealer when I put mine in. He stated that the BF Rack has the mod done, but agreed that the front does need a tighten up after a few K's. Unfortuneately I still have the clunk. I have personally checked the wheel bearings as per the TSB & the wheel nuts & all accessable bolts that I can get to both under the bonnet & inner guard including brake calipers. A bit of a mystery. The funny part is that it doesn't do it all the time.
  12. Join the Ford Circus. I have a clunk in the front end in reverse & turning to the right at differant times. Have had the car back to the Dealer, supposedly checked & tightened the front end & it's still there. I have it booked in to a Wheel Alignment place today who are going to go over every inch of it, so I hope they have some success !

Time to update to 6 Speed Auto !

Seems to be a strange thing with this rough idle, as the original test drive vehicle had it, but as I said before mine idles perfect. In fact it idles as good as the Nissan Skyline RB30 that I had years ago & they wouldn't knock the head off a beer.

Did anyone not see this?? Very simple solution. ← I know the Z9 is cheap as chips, what's the price on a VO75 or a genuine Ford Filter ?

Am curious as to whether you get any better performance from 98 on a standard motor ? (I note that Ford's website gives the T's maximum output on 95). Thanks in advance !

that's on a trip, try 13-15lts around town ! still pretty good though against the 8. Not sure, but it wouldn't surprise me if you could get it down to 8lts -100 with a bit of carefull driving, but that's probably wishfull thinking

Having previously owned a BA XR8 & now a BF6T/6spead Auto I can say that the Turbo is the most enjoyable to drive of the two cars. The Turbo comes on strong at about 2,000rpm whereapon the 8 has to get to 4,000rpm before it starts to wake up, by this time the former has been & gone. Also the Turbo seems to be better handling, no doubt because it has less weight over the front wheels. I have been beaten by a older VRX Magna in acceleration up to 100kph in the 8, but I'm sure this would not happen in the Turbo. The 6 speed Auto definately makes a lot of differance in pickup & no doubt would be the same in the 8. I don't miss the bulge in the bonnet (better vision) but I do miss the lusty bellow. Also the economy was not the best in the 8, (average 12.5ltr 100 on a trip) whereapon I was getting alot better with the T (9.5ltr 100) with only 1,000k's on the clock. This has improved considerately, although I have still only got 3,000 on the clock. I agree with the others take one for a drive you won't be dissappointed. You will pay a little extra at the pump with PULP but you can even it out with E10. Cheers.
  23. You are running Premium Brakes on your car. I don't have a problem with mine, far better than the standard one's I had on the BA XR8 & no out of round Disc's from the factory.

As far as I know the BF has a oil cooler.
