  1. Sorry for the way late reply, don't have an excuse as to why. But yeah I get the scraping noise and it is just the most annoying sh*t. Is it from the small metal clips that the pads sit in, rubbing against the top of the disk? Either way it is the worst.
  2. Thanks for the reply mate. They sound good then. I wasn't aware there would be a difference. Which ones would be the correct ones to order then? Will the hose really need to longer than that kit just for a few mm? Cheers.
  3. Hey guys, I recently replaced my front brakes on my BA MKII XR6T ute to RDA 322mm rotors and redstuff pads. I was getting a lot of shudder before hand (think the rotors were pretty thin and warped) but after the replacement they were fine..for a while. It appears I may have put a slight split in the passengers side line (don't know how) and now the brakes don't feel good at all. Anyway, the plan was always to get braided hoses so now seems like the ideal time. Just wanted to see if anybody has used these before? I like the price and the fact that they are ready to fit, I just wouldn't mind some feedback or opinions from people who know more than me. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Falcon-BA-Ute-Wagon-XR6-T-XR8-brake-upgrade-SAFEBRAKE-Performance-Hoses-/170765940974?hash=item27c27178ee Cheers Guys
  4. Cheers guys for your clarification. ^^^ Sounds like my kind of Saturday arvo.
  5. CLuTZ, Honestly which route you take depends on what your after. If you want a scenic drive than take the east coast for sure. If your more intent on having a slightly spirited and adventurous drive then take the Central highlands. (However there is about a 10km gravel stretch that cant be avoided without a pretty serious detour, so if your worried about paint chips I would avoid this route.) Honestly though it is the best drive, no traffic, and some places where you can really push what ever your driving as hard as you want. And the big ass lake in the middle of no where is pretty cool too. Just my 2c.
  6. Hi Guys, This is probably a fairly stupid question but is it the same caliper used on the 298mm rotors and the 322mm ones? I've read a few of these forums but I'm just after a definitive answer before I commit to anything. My brakes are on there way out (new rotors and pads are on the cards) and I'm just tossing up whether to go for brand new rotors (probably DBA 4000 from the reviews I've read) and new pads or splurging a bit extra and getting the 322mm mounts and bigger but possibly cheaper rotors like RDA's or something. Mainly im asking because I've seen that I can buy the support mounts for the caliper and I just want to know if my standard 4 pot calipers will suffice. Hope some of this makes sense. Also EBC Greenstuff or Redstuff? Performance wise the cars stock so I would think (and have been told) the Greenstuff will be fine for daily driving with the occasional spirited drive, but a lot of guys on here seem to go straight for the Redstuff pads so any further advice on that would be mint . Feel free to abuse for any stupid questions.
  7. Hi guys, newbie question, but how much roughly should I be expecting to pay for a new diff for my 2005 BA MK2 Xr6 turbo ute? Its probably a stupid question but I'm really just after a ballpark figure so I can start rationing my beers accordingly in order to save for a new one. Cheers guys.
  8. Cheers for the reply. It is an XR6T ute. So ford kept the same turbo diff from 03' to '05?
  9. Hi guys. So I need to get a new diff because the one in the car I bought is on its way out. Anyway, its an 05 BA MKII ute. Now my question, I was told that I need to get another 05 diff to replace the current one. This doesn't sound quite right to me? Is there any difference between BA MKI and MKII diffs? I would of thought I could get any BA XR diff and be shweet? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers, Footsbig
  10. Hi. Im in Tassie. If your going from Hobart and heading to Devonport/Burnie/North West coast, go through the central highlands. Absolutely brilliant drive. I did it a couple of weekends ago for the first time and I couldn't believe it. It really shows the contrast Tasmania has to offer. And you get to see a big ass lake that is in the middle of no where. As others say, do the west coast. Honestly I'd say do every road you can except the Main run from Launie to Hobart (midland highway), because that is boring as all hell. (could be because I've done it more than enough times but still, avoid it unless you want to see how well our state government spends their money on roads..) East coast is gorgeous too. From Launie to Hobart go the east coast on the way down at least. Like others have said, every corner of Tassie is different to the next. Oh and I'd say if you can afford the G6 its gonna be worth it. Plenty of highways means fuel wont be too bad but some roads you cant help but push it and you'll be disappointed if you get a car that you cant have a bit of fun in. And like one of the other guys said, with some corners, if it recommends dropping 50% of your speed and you've never driven the road its worth doing but if it only tells you to drop like 15kms you may as well just speed up. and yes road kill is pretty full on...went for an hour long drive one night...3 possums and a rabbit and yes I tried to avoid them all.
  11. Had a bit of a look last night. The balance is all fine. I had a look under the ICC and made sure the connections there were all in properly. The passenger window goes up and down now but still slowly.. Does anyone know what wire I have to look for in terms of the door locking button on the ICC? I had a go at getting the door skin off last night to have a look at it but I got grumpy because it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be and it was Monday so I gave up and went and a beer.
  12. Hi guys, So I bought my first xr6 Turbo on the weekend. Pretty stoked...very stoked actually. Its a BA MKII ute. Anyway, its got a few electrical problems which I'm not sure how to go about. Firstly none of the speakers on the passenger's side work. Not overly fussed about this because I've found some old power cable under the seat where the previous owner has obviously run an amp at some point so I believe getting the speakers up and running again wont be a massive issue, however I find it strange that the driver's side is fine. Secondly, the power window on the passenger side is odd, I have full control over it from the drivers side but from the passengers side switch I can only make it go up and not down? Also the passengers side window operates slower than the drivers side. And finally the little button on the ICC, (by the way what does ICC stand for? Sorry the only other cars I've had have been an AU 1 tonner and an XE panel van so its all a fair bit of a step up) the button that locks or unlocks the doors doesn't do anything. I know from the AU that even if the doors are open or closed there should still be an action from the locks but absolutely nothing happens in the BA. I just find it strange that the problems are almost exclusive to the passengers side. It does just seem like loose connections and I haven't had a chance to look at it yet but if anyone else has had these problems and can save me some time messing around I'd be really appreciative. Cheers
