  1. Anyone tried their 5" ballistic CAT. Claiming much better flow than Metal or Magic CATs This is their specs:
  2. Yes I think the 19" FPV rims should have been 19x9.5 on the rear with 275/30s. Anyway that's why I'm buying my own rims and fitting 275 on the rear and 245 on the front.
  3. Audi TT looks nice, but a performance car it is NOT. Anyway where is the RS4. Of those 4 cars the VE GTS is my pick. I don't care what anyone says, the VE look sh*t hot except for the front flares, too big. Still bought an F6 though.
  4. Yes, but they grip a lot better wet or dry. I'd rather they were 220 treadwear, but in the 19" size my much trusted Goodyear GS-D3 don't come in 275/30 and the Dunlop Sport Maxx are $200 dearer than the Advans. Still I only do around 10-12K a year so I'm not too worried by the softness of the Yokies. Those poor bastards with VE commodores are in for a shock; 140 treadwear and very dear the RE050A.
  5. RB74 are the dustiest pad I've ever used and aren't anywhere near as good as the Ferodo. Had them on my girlfriends car for 2 years, and although they were ok at stopping, didn't rate them that well and the dust was apalling.
  6. Bump.
  7. If you want stealth is there any problem with not venting to the atmosphere and plumbing back into the intake? Why do most prefer venting to the atmosphere? I like the sound of some BOV's but why give the cops yet another reason to hassle you!
  8. Check out the hybrid intercoolers: www.hybrid-power.com Excellent coolers at a very good price ~$580 for a kit for XR6, or ~$1000 with full piping. I think C&V sell them, but they can be easily found on ebay and are sold by powerdigger.com.au I think. I think I'll be getting one to replace my stock F6 cooler.
  9. Golf GT uses a supercharger and turbocharger. 1.4l, 125kW, 240Nm, supercharger works upto about 3500 rpm and then turbo takes over. Totally seemless transition of power. It depends on the supercharger, but roots type make great power down low and centrifugal types like Vortech make power further up the range. Roots type give great torque down low, but make power all through the range. Centrifugal type are more like turbos and need more revs to start make good power, but have great top end.
  10. What size, 17", 18"?
  11. here is the GT spec hybrid IC, but no specs yet but looks same as one below. There is also mentioned HDi SIR-GT-VD IC Specially design for direct bolt on to Ford XR6 turbo , 900hp high flow capacity , its vertical flow design make return flow type front mount intercooler system extremely easy. The (TADHTE ) makes high cooling efficiency high flow rate possible and allows minimum pressure drop across the intercooler. Highly polished end tank ensure the best heat reflection and appearance, moreover, a newer manufacturer technique is adopted in order to reduce the weight by 35%! That provides much of meaningful weight saving in the far front of the chassis. It is quickest and easiest add on instance power you can get without major modification. Moreover, its direct bolt on design makes engineer certify friendly. CORE SIZE THICKNESS: 80mm LENGTH: 270mm HEIGHT 446mm OVERALL SIZE THICKNESS 80mm LENGTH 446mm HEIGHT 495mm Inlet and out let port size O.D 76mm APROX WEIGHT 6.8KG Typical power gain 28-34kw Estimate installation time 3hrs
  12. How much height adjustment does it have, I thought you ment they set the height to where you want then that's it. ← I think there is well over 40mm of adjustment. They set the height when they install and tune the suspension and based on what you want, but say you are going out to the track you might to lower it 20mm and you can do so reasonably easily and set it back at end of day. Of course the ultimate would be to be able to change ride height from inside car with the touch of a button, but then you a looking a whole lot of dollars. Only a few Euros I seen have this. But the extra controller allows you to change damper rates from inside car, which is a nice feature.
  13. Compare a new VE SS and R8, the difference in braking distance is large on the same tyres, about 4m. The only difference is the brakes. Having just reverted back from an AP Racing setup to the stock setup on my VT before selling it, I can categorically state the braking distance was much worse. The AP system, could be braked much harder without activating ABS; in fact I never had ABS activate even under the heaviest braking I could muster on the old Pacific hwy and the system remained fade free all day. I could brake so much later and harder with the AP setup and you can feel the rate of deceleration is much higher. All things being equal, the larger brakes will pull you up shorter and do so for far longer than the stock setup, with pedal pressure remaining good for much longer. A larger rotor and caliper with larger swept pad area can apply a greater clamping force and dissipate heater faster than a smaller setup and must lead to shorter braking distance. of course tyres make a big difference and as many a tyre test has shown, there can be as much as 4-5m difference in stopping distance between good and bad tyres of the same size. Good brakes in combination with a good suspension setup are the single best investment you can make. A car with great handling and brakes will beat a much more powerful car with dodgy brakes and suspension in the tight stuff IMO.
  14. Good to hear as I'm getting Advans for my new 19" rims.
  15. That's a worry. Do you have adjustable bar and is it set at hardest setting? I am surprised this happened with a 27mm bar. Tyres in good nick; it didn't just aquaplane? But yes this is what one needs to watch for when fitting large front bar in the wet. Still I had 28mm bar and strut brace on my VT and never had an issue with turn in in wet. Anybody else with 27mm bar have wet road feedback?
  16. FARCANAL !!! I've not been quoted under $1500 from anywhere in Canberra for either Koni Reds or the Bilsteins!! it, I'm driving to Syd once Ford replace my rear bushes (again)! Thanks for the info pig! Where are these guys that fit 'em for ~$1200?? (PM me if you like). Qik, Most of the guys I've read about when going for the whiteline swaybars, have gone for the 27mm on the front (+3mm on stock), and 22mm on the rear (again, +3 on stock). I remember someone (DBOSS?) saying that they found the 30mm too stiff? Anyway, if I was to go the swaybars, I'd go 27mm on the front, and 22mm on the rear (adjustable). Also beware having too stiff a bar on the rear. ← Just a quick note on the stifness of the sway bar. A bar's stiffness increase with the 4th power of the radius, so going from a 24mm to 27mm bar increase stifness ~ 60% already. If you went 30mm you would be increasing stifness 144%. Given how stiff the chassis is already, fitting a 30mm bar is not necessary and would probably be detrimental, especially in the wet. I would personally first try the 27mm bar on the front and see how it felt. If you plan to put better shocks and springs in, the rear end bar might not need to be changed at all or at most I'd go up 1mm to 20mm which is a 23% increase in stifness anyway. On my VT II I went to a 28mm front bar up from 24mm, but rear we only increased from 16mm to 18mm, so as not to make rear to tail happy. Note the VT is not as stiff as the Falcon that's why we use a 28mm bar up front and a strut brace.
  17. Saw a mini cooper s the other day at a tyre shop with 20" rims and 225/30 tyres. Looked ridiculous and those tyres are so thin the rims will won't last long on Sydney's crap roads.
  18. Hmm as they say each to their own. If the standard F6 18's where 19's and had a little bit of a dish, I'd probably keep them, but IMO the ROH look excellent.
  19. I have the 18" split spoke F6 wheels with 245/40 Dunlop SP 9000. Yes I'll be selling them, but my new wheels won't be ready for another 6-8 weeks So hopefully before Xmas. Not sure of price yet, need to do some research, but I'd expect at least $1500. Maybe someone can give me an idea of what these have sold for (tyres will only have around 2-3K on them. I away for 3 weeks from mid november so cars not being driven and I've only got 400km on the clock.
  20. Xspeed have Ford Tein kits for $2600 http://www.xspeed.com.au/shop/product_info...dd7ad9f6efdd61c
  21. Sitting on a 120 on the Hay plains was a joke, I was falling asleep. Only when I got up to 140 did I feel alive again. Typical morons in government, just couldn't resist the lure of the revenue. They listen to total farking tossers like Harold scr*tum. italy has recently put it's Freeway limit up to 150km/h and densely populated Europe averages around 130, except of course the ratbag poms who are boasting they can book 40 million are year speeding. In one shire in England there is 68 speed cameras in a 2sq mile area. Victoria is so impressed Bracks is trying to outdo them
  22. I couldn't give a stuff what you buy, you bagged out the Michelin PS2's and even though I don't work for Michelin or have anything to do with them, I have a great amount of respect for the manufacturers of the best tyre in the world. Just the same as you would have jumped down my throat if I bagged something you were passionate about. ← Sheesh, you sound like a fan boy of Michelin. All I said was they are a ripoff and I'll always standby that statement. For a comparison I just got a quote for the Michelins PS2 in a 275/30 19 and a Yokohama Advan in the same size, Michelin $950 :headhurt:, Yokohama $600.
  23. Can I alter the user name I chose. When I chose it I owned a VT, now I finally have F6 I want a new name?
  24. The shorts for this are hilarious - the swimming costume is a killer.
