IMTRBO - The guy wants a 'family' car and you have given him a description for a pu$$y wagon!!!
-
What utter crap - not travelling any more than 30km out of Melbourne!!! If that was the case, how can they offer 'Road side assistance' to customers at dealerships that are located outside of Melbourne?? (ie. if you buy a car from a Ford dealer located 60km out of Melbourne will you hear "oh, by the way, this isn't actually effective unless you drive towards the city and break down there"!!! I agree with bdennis - sounds like they couldn't be stuffed helping out with 'changing a flat'. Pathetic - you should definately ring up and complain!!
-
Is now the right time to tell you I just took my beast for a cruise up to Echuca..?? :D Sorry - I guess you don't want to hear about how great that was!!! Don't worry, June is not far away - unfortunately the dealers are usually full of $hit as you would have seen through a lot of posts on this forum!! Keep positive guys and keep on the dealers backs! Your cars will arrive soon enough and then you'll be reading the posts of the poor buggers that are going through the 'waiting process'!! Hang in there - it's DEFINATELY worth the wait. Your cars sound like they have all of the right options too!! Congrats.

Nice choice!! Keep it clean and looking mean!!
-
True - but we offer suggestions and ideas to each other anyway so we run that risk already!!
-
Very nice Whizzer ..... but wouldn't those bridesmaids have been better suited to a 'phantom' XRT??!!!!!
-
Hello IMTRBO IMXRCISM!!!! I like it - it's kind of funny (sorry if that's not the response you were looking for). It's a bit like your car is introducing itself (as my partner just put it - it's like a stick on name tag you wear on your chest). If you like it then whack it on. You can always be guaranteed with personalized plates that some people will like your plate .... others will think you are a wa*ker! Would be great for someone to set up a poll on this topic where you could place your personalized plate (or perhaps a plate you were thinking of getting) up for the VOTE!!! Then we could all let each other know what we really think - Head Turner ... Good One ... Recycle Bin!!! Be great to see how our plates rate in graph format!

Here's some info. for my fellow Victorians: There is only a one off fee and then normal rego. costs each year. However, the one off fee does vary depending on the combination ..... ie 3 letters on its own is more expensive than 6 letters. Vic Roads can give you costs of all of the combinations. The web site as previously posted will show you the allowable combinations (we can't have numbers anywhere but the end which makes it a bit trickier!) and gives you the number to call. All you have to do is call and ask if it is available (they get sick of you after a while!). Anyway, I tried about 20 of the obvious ones and they were all gone. I ended up going for a play on the name ..... XRCISM ...... it's different and it certainly gets some looks!! The XRT looks evil and I drive it like I am possessed so I guess it suits!! :asthanos: I was also able to get one standard size and one slimline at no extra cost (slimline suits the front and standard size takes up the back section nicely). White on black plates on my Phantom beast - looks horn!!

I hate to say this (being an owner with premium sound) but I seriously believe I got better sound out of my EL Fairmont!! I had changed the standard cassette stereo to a Pioneer CD player and replaced the 2 rear speakers with a very nice pair of JBL's. That's it - jack $hit modifications ...... makes you wonder what you are paying the extra for now??? Saying that, I am sure it won't take much to get a similar quality with the premium sound system .... start by changing the speakers and go from there ........ I don't want to be shaking the car with the bass at the lights, but I did expect the same quality as a minimum with the premium upgrade :( Looks like it will need some tweaking from my end to get it sounding like what I am used to!!
-
I think you have got the picture..?? 18" look hot - just make sure you have the bank account to replace the tyres!!! Just do it - you only live once!! :D
-
Thanks Silverhawk - got it - know I just have to put up with this noise until my next service ...... thank god I don't do 140km per hour every time I drive ...... :D
-
I too have that annoying whistle at 140km coming from the windscreen - Has anyone found a solution yet......???
-
I thought it was along the same lines as richdave - 3km tolerance which is deducted from your total speed ...... hence, you end up with a speeding fine of 61km in a 60 zone for doing 4kms over the limit - not 1km (still sucks though). I always thought that once you went over 100km per hour there was a 10% tolerance (ie 110 would be ok). Obviously this is not the case after reading this thread (thanks guys!). Perhaps someone could answer this one: Can you be booked for flashing your lights to warn oncoming traffic of a speed camera???? Saying that, it is more common these days to get a warning when the car in front slams on thier brakes ... anyone actually seen a speed camera CAUSE an accident???!!! I agree that the cops should be fixing some the other problems on the roads - here a couple of my 'pet hates' ..... 1) Cars and/or trucks going slow in the right hand lane and 2) cars that blow smoke - get a frigin service and tune up!!

A lot of the colours look great!! Who cares if they go in and out of fashion - if you love the colour and you're the one who is paying the bloody thing off then it only matters if YOU like it!! :D As for any colour fading (?) within 6 months ....... I would be going back to the dealer!! I have paint protection on my car and keep it clean. Looks as good as the day I got it. I think that once you are driving one, you no longer are thinking about what colour it is or if you made the right choice - the performance blows your mind!!!

Turbo6man This was your every day Ford dealership - not owned by Ford. The ute was the 4th car we had bought off them in 6 months and I guess they just knew how to treat their customers - no bull$hit and straight answers. He had a list of what was available at their lot, coud find out what was available at other dealers and what was coming off the line soon - surely all dealers would have access to this information??? Perhaps as soon as someone asks for a modification, it is easier to do the paperwork and put in an order than search around dealers and the factory?? I don't know - would be good to hear from a Ford salesperson who may be able to shed some more light on the topic???? I would love an answer - How can one dealer know off the top of his head what is and isn't available (and will cop a 3 month wait) yet another dealer can 'search around' and be able to get you that same car a few days later.....?????
-
Hotted up Camiras??? ......... not round these parts Turb06!! It's more like a modified WRX, Skyline, Celica, 200SX, SS Commodore, etc. - the list goes on. Lots of 'boys' with too much money, not enough experience and exhausts the size of their back seat!!! I don't have anything against a nice car so I will limit my comment to 'rice burners that have a P plate' (and Holdens with a P plate!!!). And to all - sorry, the majority - of P plate drivers who find this comment unfair: It is ok to throw out a challenge It is ok to be beaten It is ok to be beaten in front of your mates It is ok to 'appreciate' the car that beat you at the next set of lights It is NOT ok to abuse the car or driver at the next set of lights You win some - you lose some!!!
-
Colour doesn't matter because all of them look fantastic!! Unfortunately that means you will always come across the jealous wan*ers (who usually drive a rice burner) who will harm your car....... especially when you leave them for dead at the lights!!! The thought of possible damage/theft naturally comes with having the best looking and performing car on the road!!!!!!! :D

I first saw my car being driven by the dealership manager. On enquiry we were told it would be available as a demo model in several months. After about a month we went back to see if there was any way they could make it available earlier ........ within a week the car was being driven out of the car yard with all of the requested options/treatments complete and for a fantastic deal!! The XR6T experience was all too much and we decided we would change over the 4WD for a ute. Went back to the dealer on a Tuesday and did the deal. They looked up their info as to what was available ...... the car was at the dealer by Thursday (same week). Options and treatments were started the following week. Car was being driven out of the car yard Wednesday morning. That's about a week from the time the order was placed for a Silhoutte XR6T ute - and this car was not in the yard ...... it was an order and came from the factory. Tends to make one think .............. it definately all comes down to the dealer and their knowledge. How is it that one dealer can know where to find out the information and how to make things happen so quickly?? Consequently, we had looked at a ute at another dealer a few days before. He told us that unless we wanted one he had in his yard, we would be waiting months if we wanted to place an order for the colour we wanted.........??????? I feel for all of you that have had to wait months. I am not that patient! And I would most definately be hitting the dealer for some extras as compensation (screwing up with the transmission type is just plain unacceptable cdm)

No surpises here. I traded my car a couple of months ago when getting my T. Unfortunately a few realities hit home. 1) They don't give a rats a*** how clean and shiny your car looks - they can achieve the same look on any car after and hour out the back with their detailers!! 2) You will never get the same price that you can get for your car privately - as we all know, getting a car roadworthy, advertising the car and dealing with potential buyers is HARD WORK!! Not having to do that is worth a drop in price in my view. 3) They are a business there to make money - they have to allow for some profit on the car as does the dealer they sell it to - they are not there to do any of us any favours (no matter what they say, they make money on a trade in). Weigh up what your time and efforts are worth to sell the car yourself - if you think the extra you can get is worth the effort then start selling the car privately (beware though - last time I sold a car privately the guy came back to my house a week later demanding another tyre ....... weirdo - yes ........ but put me off selling my car to a stranger who knows where I live!!). Good Luck!!
-
And we are talking the 'performance' market too Mondie!! Now that ain't cheap!! Why do they drop the price so quickly in such a short amount of time - to screw those who paid full retail only a few months prior?? How much money IS reasonable to lose on a vehicle in 6 months - 30%?? I will be pissed off if my XR6 Turbo drastically drops in price in 6 months or just because the second series is released or there is a new product launch (GT). Seems to me that when Ford devalues their 'upper market' products, they are not only shooting themselves in the foot, but also the hand that feeds them. To any Ford dealers who read this: The Mustang, T-Series, XR6 Turbo, XR8 .... these are fantastic vehicles and can sell themselves through their performance and looks - no need to drop the price like a 'run out' sale. If we - the Ford supporters - see this as an ongoing trend ........... why would we buy them up front when we can wait and save so much?? You will kill your own market. Mondie - "Lucky the BA is so good" ............. it is FANTASTIC!!!
-
mercturbo Yeah - I can understand that feeling 'Arnie'. I wouldn't mind having some spikes on my wheels 'Grease Lightning' style - if someone touched my car I could cut into their door panels like a can opener!!
-
Surprise Surprise .... My number plates are XRCISM ........ And yes, the car looks and drives as Evil as the name suggests!!
-
mercturbo - in response: I was at a red light and a station wagon pulled up next to me. The guy was honking his horn and suggesting I wind down my window. Seeing as he had his wife in the passenger seat and a kiddie seat in the back (with kiddie) I figured it was safe! He leant over and said "Is it as good as they all say it is..??" My reply: "And then some" Had a very quick chat about some of the features - his wife knew all about it also from all of the magazines her husband had but the look on her face told me that 'looking' was all he was going to get to do - poor guy. I did the only decent thing I could - took off like a bat out of hell so at least he would have something to smile about!!!!!!!! It is enivtable - if you drive the best looking car on the road you will get looks and comments. Some will be good - from admirers, some will be bad - from jealous wankers. It's just a shame to hear about people taking their 'jealousy' a bit too far and damaging another car. I too have had that experience and all I say (to calm myself) is "What goes around comes around".
-
Got the one from the ford.com site - thanks dave (at least now I will have something to smile about when at work!!). Looking forward to seeing the one you are working on Chris - hopefully it will include all of the colours to satisfy all of us XR6T owners!!
-
Best of Luck - I eventually got my photos off the site you are talking about yesterday (with the help of a friend) ....... seems it was out of action for the last few days! You can get 4 photos (2 for commercial vehicles) and they are just awesome! Both of us found the last photo a bit hazy as it is taken with a window in the background ..??? But all in all I was wrapped. I equate it to getting pictures of an ultrasound - seeing the development of your 'new baby' ........ no better way to start your album!!!
