Hey guys heard today the US market predicts oil prices to hit over $100 per barrel this year. As a result a rescession will occur, but on a bigger note what will happen to our V8's and our 4litre turbos??? theres no way the average T owner would be able to afford over $2 per litre for fuel. I wasnt around when the last oil crisis hit but I believe the trend went from big cars to small cars, I feel a similar trend may occur (NOOOO). Am just curious as to how you all would react to such a rise....I myself would have to sell the T which gets me thinking that re sale values for big cars would drop.

I have a similar problem, my hand brake has lost tension but it still holds the car on a hill in neutral. I totally agree though I think ford really should up the build quality and parts. If this happened on a $14000 car it would be expected but a $39000 turbo ute, I don't think so. (a $14000 car dosnt even have this problem)

I think generally there are no fees with exiting a HP early, I've had 3 and none of them did. if you exit a HP mid way through then the payout figure is adjusted accordingly, normally sombody would sell the car when they do this, if you sell the car for more than they payout figure then you won't be in the red. This is also why it's important not to have too high a residual. If you make a profit on the vehicle, then tax does need to be paid but only on the proportion of the profit which can be attriibuted to buisness usage. (I.e. if you claim 75% buisness usage on your car, then it would be discounted by 1/4 prior to applying tax) Or is it vice versa ? it's very simple really <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Im understanding now... I am looking at upgrading to a mk2 soon and am considering a HP. But was weary about exiting early, but if you can easily then cheering. So if I was to get a HP for a Mk2 T ute for $40000 over say 60 months and wanted out at 36 or 48 months I just inform the credit company and they give me a payout figure, does this sound right... Then do they give me the rights to sell the vehicle???
-
Just a general question if you were to get a Hire Purchase can you exit prior to the end of the contract, eg. If you got a 60month hire purchase and at the 36th month you wanted to get rid of the car can you do this???? If so are there fees????

When I first got my T I thought the same thing but its normal their just rough when they idle. At the dealers I asked to turn on the demos to see if they idled the same and they did. Even my mates at work idles rough. I believe it has something to do with the turbo and the ecu. It has grown on me and now I like it as it feels mean. Dont worry their not as bad as the Maloos which idle very rough.

Well done mate and welcome... I know how the insurance is, im 21 and the ute is slightly more than a sedan but its worth it as you will grow to learn. I dont know about you but it took me at least a month to learn how to drive the turbo with best take off procedure etc. Have fun pulling from V8's

Ben How do you find you VXss, my last ride was a VU ss ute and everytime I came to race a T they would pull from me. So I had to get one. Why I ask is my vu had probs with the suspension and inconsistent performance. My other halfs parents have a VXss and are having probs too. Expensive Daewoo dosnt want to know them. Is this still going on???
-
Well done mate and very nice choice. Im glad you didnt get a SS ute. If your gonna do it then do it in style. Are you on the LS1 forums now???
-
Pencil me in, not definite though. This will be my first run. If I come I will be at the Liverpool meeting place.
-
Why not any where up there is good. Newcastle would be good because then we will have the whole F3 to open the turbos up for a good run
-
I would love to do a cruise up to the central coast, the entrance maybe before it gets too cold. I love it up there...plus its a great run on the F3 but sometimes not long enough.

My intercooler is looking pretty bad due to paint beginning to peel off in sections due to being hit by objects ad speed As im am a perfectionist is want to touch it up. Whats the best stuff to use??? I want it looking subtle from the front again, when ever im driving I see people driving in the opposit direction looking at the intercooler as its standing out now.
-
Well done and congrats, hopefully soon my ute will be at that power level too. The only thing holding me up is $$$. Keep us informed if you do go for some 1/4 runs

With rolling starts the turbo eats the V8's, I kill them all them time. I have only lost to a VY2 clubby which had an edit and a VZ 6 litre which ate me off the line. But what do you expect 6 litres vs 4 litres; $60000 vs $40000 which mine is stock. If id of beaten him I think he would of been back at the dealers complaining...

Im also in Penrith (go the panthers)

Hi guys I live in Sydney and was wondering how many here live in NSW or Sydney??? I see alot of T's getting around here and often wonder if its some of you in here. Do you often meet up for drives??? I love to meet sometime and go cruising. My mate at work also owns a T (APS phase 1) and would also love to do something.

Hi guys, I drive a turbo ute (the one that was hit by the 4wd) and a guy at my work has the turbo sedan. After driving both I find a big difference between the turbos. For example his sounds like rushing air and it comes on alot harder where as mine sounds more like a high pitched spinning sound and not as aggressive. Now im auto and hes manual if this makes a big difference. But its got me wondering why does mine not sound the same or perform the same??? I have driven a Turbo auto sedan and it drove like my mates with a rushing air noise and more aggressive. Is it just the utes or mine only?????

Yesterday my ute suffered a hit in the rear from a 4wd And of course the 4WD with its tow bar suffers no damage. With it being his fault I pay nothing to get a new tail gate, but it wont be the origional...I am not happy about it and everytime I see the rear end of the ute I just wanna cry. Everywhere I drive everyone stares at it and backs off, I assume they think Im a bad driver or something... I just cant wait till its fixed. Has this happened to any one else??? I have attached some pics, but be warned its not a nice site.
-
Hey mate don't worry, at least your getting a fpv to drive and a brand new clutch system. The boys at LS1 are actually impressed by FPV to fix the problem. Apparently HSV does nothing like that at all, you have to complain if you find the problem...

Dave, I too had a AU XR6 with no problems to a T and everything is normal. The radio is picked up through the rear window in the BA unlike the AU with the stupid thing going up and down. The surging is just the turbo, at 2000rpm is when it tends to start spooling so if your sitting on 2000rpm the turbos boost is going up and down. Turbos have bad fuel consumption when driven hard, can be worse than a v8. The more compressed air entering the engine needs to be matched by fuel. Never buy a turbo for economic reasons. Your furl indicator is just for warning, mine comes on at 80k's to go as I tend to drive hard and the car knows it. I have the tiptronic so I cant help ya on the clunking issue, but I heard its quite normal even in the Holdens.
-
No, but I don't think your car is sick... It seems just to be human error. The XR6T is a performance car and has to be looked at differently from a standard Falcon or Commodore. Turbos always tend to be problematic, as long as you look after it, it will look after you.

Get the leather its lush.

Hey mate, The best ones are the demos, I got my turbo ute at power ford castle hill NSW as an ex demo. It was fully optioned with leather, scuff plates, tints, alloy pedals etc. And the best thing is all the little teething problems have been ironed out. I have had not a single problem (touch wood). I got all that for $35888 drive away. Not bad I thought.

F6 ReviewI was reading a review of the F6 in the motoring section of the SMH and they dogged it out saying its very problematic and performance is inconsistent. What they did say was the XR6T is the best BA "Less power and pose value but a much more refined, coherent package and better value. 240kW turbo six goes smoothly and strongly with the four speed automatic. Magazine tests show this is quicker than the new F6." Quoted. Also quoted: "The 240kW XR6 Falcon turbo, especially with the four-speed automatic, is the best drive in the BA range, with refinement, performance and poise that really shine on a flowing country road. The F6 feels considerably less cohesive and convincing, as though the unique big six turbo concept has perhaps been pushed too far in the pursuit of mine's bigger than yours (ie Holden's) performance numbers." Im shocked to hear this as my impressions of the F6 was much different. I am now truly proud to drive a XR6T auto now. Hopefully FPV iron out the faults with the upcoming F6 Ute due in a couple of months.
