That's quite embarrassing. So if I was in my Turbo, next to an Aurion, we would be pretty even to 100km/h? That's very embarrassing.

I'm running stock, except for the BPR CAI, but every now and again, while cold, the trans seems to sometimes clunk into 3rd when im not giving it too much. I always use manual mode as I can change gear earlier and get better fuel consumption, so I am always changing as early as possible. But also when I am giving it some good throttle through first and second, and halfway through second I take my foot off accelerator and put into 3rd, I get the same clunk. I do this rarely, only when over taking slow farts EDIT: Car is 2006 BF, and has 47,000km's on it. Do I need to get my trans serviced? I have never raced it on a track or taken it down the 1/4 mile. Fastest I've been in it is 130km/h on the high way, once. I usually nanny is, unless somebody is going overly slow I just flick into 3rd and over take.

Hey guys, I'm really sorry if this is a boring repost, I've looked everywhere! With the ZF 6sp Auto, can the oil be changed at home? As in, is it easy enough to do it your self? I have some good car ramps that I've been using to change my engine oil, filter, few others underneath the car and such, so would it also be easy enough to change my own trans oil? Anybody done it?

That's great info 'BLK6T'! My 6sp AUTO is clunking every now and then when engaging 3rd gear while up shifting at slow speeds. At higher speeds with more throttle, all is fine. So I will be definitely doing that trans oil change! I didn't think it was that easy! Thanks again mate!

Guys, I just have a quick question. When getting a larger intercooler, wouldn't it stop the air from getting to the radiator? Have people noticed the car temps going up with an intercooler that is blocking most of the radiator?

"Rooster", Why did you try to run? If you are telling the truth, and only going 10km/h over, you would just cop it. There is obviously something behind the curtains you are not telling us. So stop bullsh*tting and tell us the truth. Nobody would use 'handbrake' to slow down so there would be no brake lights showing. You must of been damn desperate mate. Nobody who is completely innocent and 'just' speeding over by 10km/h would take the extremes you took. You're an idiot, grow up. This thread should have been locked up as soon as it got started. Mate, for $600 get your self a BluePower Cold Air Intake, for $400 get your car lowered a bit. And for $1500 get your self a damn good full exhaust, Extractors to tip. That's exactly $2500, including labour. And you have your self a #UCKING AWESOME sounding beast, with the air intake GROWL and the exhaust rumble, plus the look with the lowering (these cars look GREAT just lowered a bit) and much better performance! Then wait a little more until you have about $1000, and get it custom tuned, and find either 3.75 diff or even 4.11 and you will be keeping up and beating stock turbo's! Have fun, its so rewarding getting that N/A going hard, and the N/A will ALWAYS sound better than the turbo, through the air intake and exhaust!

Hey I just went out for another squirt and achieved a best run of 4.0 seconds 0-100km/h. In that run my 60ft was 1.9 and my 1/8mile was 9.3 Does that sound right? All my other runs ranged 5.5 to 6 seconds to 100km/h

That's pretty good to hear. When I was out looking for a car, I was tossing up between GT, XR8 or Turbo. A friend of mine who owns an XR8 told me the Turbo might be a little quicker than the XR8, but the 8 will be pushing more 'Force' at the end of the 1/4 mile. I don't really know what he meant, but after reading this, I think he was just talking bollocks!

It would be safer to not fang it down the road and then come straight back and turn it off. It needs time to cool down so when you're about 3 - 5 mins away from where you are going, take it easy and don't hit boost. Otherwise, you need to let the car sit there and idle for a couple mins to safely turn it off. The turbo gets so hot that if you turn it off while at a high enough temperature, it will bake the oil and turn it into a solid, clogging up your whole turbo lines and ruin it.

Have you checked Drive.com.au and carsales.com.au? When I bought my BF XR6t a month ago, there where heaps of them for sale. I just looked through and found the one I wanted, not that hard. But when you find one, you have to make sure you ask if the car was an ex-cop, because they would have been treated worse than a privately owned one. You can pick a nice BF 6sp Auto Turbo for about the $22,000 - $25,000 these days, cheaper if you look harder.

Mate, go the BFII XR6T. The 6sp Auto would be the winner for me. Throw in a couple $$$ at it and it will be much faster than the Phoon. Plus, being an MkII it might still have factory warranty? If you go the phoon, you just have to remember about the running costs. Bigger wheels mean extra $$$ for new tyres, those brakes don't come cheap either to replace or repair. And unless you are taking it to regular track days, you don't need those bigger brakes just for everyday driving and giving it a squirt here and there. Go the newer 6sp Auto XR6t!

As long as you have an internal GPS it will work. If you don't have GPS on your Iphone, you can buy an external GPS receiver ($60-$120) and change the settings in RaceChrono so that your Iphone uses BlueTooth to connect to the GPS receiver and then it will work. Its also more accurate to use an external GPS as the internal one wouldn't be as good.

I was stuck with A Falcon Forte for about 3 years. Half way through I decided to put a big fat pod filter on it, and even though I didn't notice any change in performance, I noticed a massive change in induction sound, that huge growl! But anyway, I spent about $30 bucks buying it and fitted it all my self, and that basically kept me happy for the remainder of the time I had it. I would rev its guts off and people would look and think "what the **ck is that?", even though it was a dog of a car. It was awesome! I then bought an BA XR6 N/A 2003, fit on a BPR cold air intake (Biggest pod filter I've ever seen), and once again, just the sound of it was amazing! Awesome fun, people would just look and think it must be one tough car, when it really wasn't It all made me very happy, so I think you should go ahead and do what ever makes you happy. But then I bought a Turbo, and I've never been any happier!

Great little tool mate. What a good find! I put it to first use the other day, and ended up with a, 6.4 0-100km/h, and a 14.8 1/4 mile. Seems a little on the slow end, but this was the first time I have ever tried seeing how fast the car is, so there is always room for improvement, on private roads that is!! And to the people that don't know how to use it, its easy: 1. Go into RaceChrono 2. New Session 3. Go into "performance test" 4. Choose which ever one you like, then click back 5. Then click 'Start' Now you just have to wait for it to connect to some satellites, and after that, you're off! If you ever want to change between 0-60ft or 1/4 mile, or 80km/h-120km/h just head into properties ---> performance test and change it. EDIT: Then just do the tests. Don't worry about the phone, you don't have to look at it or touch it at all (unless you are changing the performance test). As soon as you stop the car for a 0-100km/h test (for example) it starts the counter automatically when you start driving. Its all automatic!

Its funny that, when I had my old car which was a 2003 BA N/A, about 2 weeks after he found out about it, he claimed his had 220kw at the wheels. Now, about a week after he found out I drive a 2006 XR6t, that claim has gone up to "297kw" out of no where. And when he told me this, it really felt like it was pushed out, like I a, 'just so you know' sort of thing! Cheers for the replies guys!

Hey guys, just to let you know, this is one of those "Mine is bigger than yours" thread! I have a mate who drives a 2000 VT SS GENIII, its also a 6 sp manual. But he keeps raving on about how his car is so much faster than mine. He's got on it, full exhaust, better air intake and a chip. I drive a 2006 6sp Auto XR6Turbo with the only mod being a BluePower cold air intake. As I don't want to race on the street, we haven't actually put the 2 cars side by side to see who is faster. But from this information, is there anybody here who could tell me, is his car really faster then mine? Cheers!

Cheers guys While test driving it, I didn't see any holes or screws at all around the ICC or any where. So I'm feeling confident that it wasn't an ex-copper. But once again, would the coppers use a vehicle like the one I might be buying with all those options I mentioned? Or most likely not?

Hey guys. I'm about to buy a BF 06 XR6T 6sp AUTO 44,000kms, and was wondering if the car I'm buying is an ex-cop car. They kept stressing that this one was the only non ex-cop car selling within the surrounding regions. The car has those plastic mud flaps, premium sound with 6 stacker and colour screen, tinted windows, full auto windows, tow bar and now what's been bugging me, reverse parking sensors. I cant remember where, but somewhere I heard that only ex-cop cars got the reverse parking sensors, unless you optioned it from new. But wouldn't that mean you would also get front sensors? Oh, and its a Blue colour. Not that light blue with glitter in it, just that deep plain blue. So with all that information, what do you guys think, could this be an ex-copper? Any input would be appreciated! Cheers
