Its stock. I wasn't sure they were going to fit in with the suspension post, but they have about 6-8 mm clearance. No plans to lower. This weekend project is RDA slotted rotors, QFM A1RM pads & TRW 5.1 Fluid. Also painting the calipers black as they stand out like dogs balls. Now that I'm used to them I think they fill the guards nicely. Heres some pics from Wakefield showing heavy braking into a right hander. As you can see its getting tight under the front. I am still smiling ! These pics of our car (Green XR6T) are of mrs Skidude driving. She now considers herself a petrol head and wants me to get a modded WRX as a track car/2nd car. Also she's pushing for a brake upgrade on the XR. Al.

1:10 in the MX is quick. The driver instructor (Mike Navybox) was telling me that the MX5's are as quick through the tight section of the course as Nissan GT-R. Hopefully our times will be better once we get some better brakes and experience (this was our first ever track day). Planning a full instruction day next year after the heat of summer ends. The green F6 in the photo was stock and considerably faster around the track. With his brembos he was braking 100-150 metres past where we had to brake. Consequently he was getting to 180-185 on the straight whereas we were having to pull back at 165-170 so we could pull up before the tight right hander. He also had zero brake fade or shudder in the 20 minute sessions.

Temps early in the day were about 11-12 c. Mid afternoon was 19c when the overheat occurred. All fluid levels are OK. Track temp I think was 34c mid afternoon. The dash screen flashed up with overheat and asked me to press "SEL" to confirm. Needle usually sits about 2 mil below half on the temp gauge. It was just over half when it occurred. I am thinking DBA and an upgraded pad. Probably look at some slotted and drilled rotors. I can't justify 6k and upwards for Brembos. Do you have them on all 4 corners ?

No idea. It wasn't timed. Although we had a trainer there with a student in an mx5 doing around 1:20. We were lapping similar times but in the short twisty stuff he'd pull away and I'd catch him or overtake by the end of the straight. I'm hooked.

Hi All, Mr & Mrs Skidude decided to test the car and get the speed out of our system at Wakefield today.. All I can say is that it was a great day but I need to upgrade the brakes as the OEM stuff can't handle a few fast laps (looking at some DBA stuff with heavy duty pads). Only about 22 cars turned up so plenty of track time for both of us. We let the car cool down for a minumum of 20 minutes between drivers. I discovered that the car goes into limp mode if it gets too hot. I found myself on 2 (?) cylinders on the main straight. I let the car coast around and got back into it. This is addictive! Fastest speed was 170 down the main straight. Our mate in the F6 was hitting 180 but was able to brake later with his Brembos. Here are some pics :

Hi All, Got some new wheels this week. They're BSA G2-28 (20"x8.5") with 245/35/20 tyres. Off to sleep now - off to Wakefield Park early tomorrow. Here's the pics:

I can confirm they fit. Wheel size is 20 X 8.5 Tyre width is actually 243mm on a 245/35/20 that I got. This allows about 6mm clearance between the inside corner tyre edge and the suspension post on the fronts. Rears not an issue. AL.

Hi All, Need some advice. Specifically need to know if a tyre size 245/35/20 will fit on an FG turbo with no dramas. I've called around a few tyre places and no-one seems to have a definite yes or no. Just "might". Outside diameter is 680mm and width 248mm. Thanks if anyone can advise.

Hi Shock, I saw that vehicle at Peter Warrens when I was looking at mine. Its a nice vehicle. As a comparison, for what its worth, I got the following vehicle from the same place last week: Oct 2008 FG XR6T in Dash colour with 23,000k's Leather Seats Reverse Camera/sensors Premium Audio Tech pack Tint Mud spats XR Mats $40950 I thought this was a good deal as full retail a brand newie was up around 57K. Plus its the wifes car and she'll only do about 6-7000k's per year. We actually went to look at a standard XR6, but drove this first and there was no going back from there. Wifey planning on trading this in 2 years for an f6. My father in law drove the thing over the weekend and I don't think I've heard so many expletives in half an hour !
