Yeah, I can afford a second hand one. You can get into them for $80-$90k now, and I've got a BMW connection to help keep costs down. I am after a sedan and they are under $100k now.

Yeah, thinking of going back to a BMW. I had a E36 3.2 M3 for 3 years back in the day and it was a very sweet ride. When I sold that car, just as the E46 M3 was in the middle of it's life, I remember saying to myself that if BMW ever bring out a V8 M3 that I would buy one. Well that time has come. I have had the pleasure of driving both manual and M-DCT V8 M3's for a coupe of days each and nothing beats the sound and balance of those things. My thing is extremely fast in a straight line but throw some corners at it and there is no comparison. The balance and grip is amazing. And the sound under full throttle of the V8 absolutely makes mine sound gay. So that's what I am thinking.

Yeah, 19's. I had 20's for a set of tyres worth but didn't think they were worth it for the cost of decent tyres. So back to 19's with 285 on the back.

I like mine.....

What Mods Have You Done, Or What Do You Think Needs Doing To Your G6Et

Yeah, I think you are missing my point. I don't care what other people think of my car. I didn't modify it for their benefit, I did it for my benefit....... -

Brave first post! And your 2c comment is appreciated, no really, it is..... And this is the point really. If we all liked the same thing the world would be a pretty boring place. In my opinion this is understated. Nicely colour coded, slightly lowered, nicely staggered at the rear, no garish silver grills and fog surrounds, no chrome rims screaming ricer, no big over sized G6E TURBO badges which serve no purpose. It serves me well, as proven to myself by the fact I had some knob jockey's in a VE SS (not paying out on Holden's, that's just what they were driving) pull up beside me at the lights and drop their windows and say "hey w**ker, taking the badges off your XT doesn't make it a turbo!" They were right, taking the badges off doesn't make it a turbo, but having 280rwkw does make it much quicker from the lights than a VE SS. And the only reason I have the car looking like this is not to impress any person the world. It's so that every day when I walk up to the car it puts a smile on MY face. And that's that. CJl... -

A bit of de-badging and colour coding on the rear as well..... -

Good Call.......like this.........colour coded, lowered and tuned. -
I have Yokohama Advan Sport V103 in 285/30/19 on the back of mine and Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001 in 245/35/19 on the front and I can say without any doubt that the RE001's are the best gripping tyre I have had on any car and that includes comparison against P Zero Nero's, Hankook's, Dunlops and Sumitomo's....... The combination of Advans on the back and RE001's on the front in 285 - 245 staggered fitment seems to give the car a perfect balance and excellent front end grip (and therefore turn in) that it has not had before. I am VERY HAPPY.

I've got 285's on the back of mine (G6ET) with King SSL's and no other suspension mods with no problems at all (even with 5 in the car....)

I bought the XR8 Intake and snorkle from FTG Auto Salvage....
-
Yeah, had the cutout taken out. But might have to rethink it as I do too much slow city driving that doesn't feel so good with an abrupt shift under part throttle.....
-
Yeah, it certainly feels stronger. It seems to suit my driving style. It's around 25kw more in general driving, and feels very torquey, unless you get up it and then it gets nice and strong up top without feeling peaky. I will either go an exhaust (Defilippo) or cooler next and then pull some more power out of it.

Guys, A couple of weeks back I had my G6ET tuned by GenTech in Canberra. I am very happy with the outcome. The car was 100% stock except for a XR8 air box and snorkel fitted at the same time as the tune. I specifically mentioned I was not after peak power, just good drivability and low boost reliability....

Here's mine.... 20*8.5 all around. CJL

The price I paid is not really relevant as I have a dealership in the family. Needless to say it was good, but the car is a mid '08 plate, if that makes any difference to you guys.

Funny you should mention the green grass. I sent a photo of the new car to my wife, who is currently travelling oversea's, and I told her to pay attention to the green grass (in an effort to distract her from the new car). The grass was not that colour when she left. It's amazing what a little rain and a little tank water can do. It's also nice what you can buy when the wife is overseas.

Another couple of pictures. Please excuse the filthy sate the car is in. That's a job for Sunday.

Guys, I am another new G6ET owner. Have had it for about 2 weeks. Driven around 1,800km including a nice trip down and back up the Clyde Mountain yesterday and today. I have had a lot of cars including fast and/or European and/or expensive ones and this is nicely the best car I have ever driven. The power, performance, balance, handling and refinement are awesome. Just a quick picture for amusement (of questionable value and very iffy). My favorite car going up and down the coast used to me my wifes car, the one next to it.

Guys, I am a big fan of dual exhausts. And by that I mean a single pipe on each side of the car. I have noticed that the GT's come with dual side exhausts and the appropriate cutout in the rear bumper apron. Does anyone know if the rear apron cutout is the same between a FPV and G6ET so that I could swap over the rear bumper apron to fit dual side exhausts to my G6ET and not have to cut my existing one? I hope that makes sense????

Would he consider a really good 2nd hand one? I've good one going for a good price here...
-
So, who owns BLK40T, is it you XRSikness? Those rims are the exact ones I am looking to put on my black T. May I ask what price you paid and from where? Also, what's the story with the dual exhaust???? Gota have one.....

Can you guys that have after-market 18's or 19's fitted to BA's please post a pic in this thread. I know there are some pics hidden away in the photo gallery but they are hard to find and it would be nice to have them all in one place, like this thread. Your help is appreciated. I will make a start by posting my pics first..... Black XR6T with 18' Lenso Speed 6's Geez, this photo makes them look small.....

OK guys, I have a APS Phase I kit being installed on Thursday 18th Dec. How many of you guys have currently got the Phase I kit fitted without any other mods? If anyone has any experience with this kit ( with this chip... ) then any comments or feedback are greatly welcome. I know that this subject has been done before but I am looking for fresh comments and feedback...or the same stories told again.... Thanks CJL

So aaronmihe, if I was to purchase one of these nice little TV tuners such as the one mentioned do you (or one of your side-kicks) have the time, effort, skill, energy and inclination to make-up the appropriate interface kit for a fellow Canberran? Appropriate remuneration would be provided of course. Thanks CJL
