Howdy all, id like to find a different front bumper for my BA '6T, cos I think the stock one looks a little plain. Obvious train of thought leads to a GT, typhoon or DJR copy (something different would be even better) but all the companies ive looked at use fibreglass. Anyone know of any companies that make em in something a little more flexible like the proper ones? Because my stock bumper has seen some abuse ...unless someone happens to have a gt or typhoon bumper just lying around? Vixen colour would be nice...

Should pick up an el cheapo multimeter mate. I was lucky enough to have one handy when I did my gauges (I have one for work) but I would have been f****d without it btw I connected mine at the ignition cos I didnt wanna play with the fuse box, just make sure you fuse the line. I used a 150mA fuse which works fine

Nah mate mines a red one! on my exhaust, where I suspect the cat would be isnt a nice neat bulge as on that one. its more like theyve just welded a section of slightly larger pipe into it, if that makes sense?

might be an obvious one but check the service history? mine was an 02 model and when I picked it up early this year it still had what looked like a stock fuel filter - certainly not recently changed anyway, although you cant just go pulling this dudes car apart looking for faults! check around the rear wheels for rubber too :/ are the tyres new? are the panels all exactly the same colour? If not it might have been pranged. also when you test drive, get the owner to take you for a spin first, and take note of how he/she drives it. other than that mate just browse the tech forums, should give you a fair idea of what generally goes wrong with em. good luck!

Yeah it wouldnt surprise me mate. Ill definitely be having it fixed, hopefully sooner rather than later. I was just kinda hoping that this might be the cause of some idle issues Ive been having. Time will tell I guess!

Can be convenient. I only use mine on long trips really, so I dont forget to let it cool when I stop for fuel. around town I just hit the stop button after I take the key out, and usually dont even realise im doing it.

Oh ok, but yeah I dont even think I have a cat to speak of. So would this decreased restriction be making my car run better or worse? because the exhaust creates back pressure which makes the engine run better right?

Cheers mate very informative, but the piece I was looking at looks nothing like on the article! Its just a section about 20mm wider than the rest of the pipe; could just be a join or something. In which case, I have no cat! Is this ok?? I thought it was illegal??

Ok so I put the car over the pit and checked the exhaust... no visible damage, well bolted to the manifold too. My old man was helping me, and he discovered a really faint rattle in a section of the exhaust, about a foot or two from the manifold. I think it might be the cat converter cos its slightly larger than the pipework. We gave it a bit of a shake, then poked around a bit more and eventually found nothing more but when we left - no more noise. The system is an aftermarket Manta, installed by a previous owner. So now Im thinking a damaged cat. Worth pursuing, or is it best just left alone??

nah this is more like a metallic clicking noise that gets louder the harder you go...

Good news by the way, spoke to a turbo expert and he says the turbo's fine (apparently "if it were damaged, you'd know about it"), so anyone out there know what that sound could be?? It sounds the way you would expect a loose heat shield to sound, but Ive checked those already. Ill check the exhaust next chance I get. Any other suggestions?

Oil supply filter... I must admit Ive never heard of it let alone checked it (owned the car since january... can only assume the previous owner didnt either). Im sure Ill find a how-to thread here somewhere, but can anyone tell me which brand is the best and where I can find it (ie is it a specialty item or will I pick it up off the shelf at repco?)

Hey guys, I think I've done the bearings on my turbo (02 ba xr6t). It makes a harsh metallic noise on boost when its cold, and I've noticed this seems to be fairly common with these cars. Is this due to some sort of design fault with the turbo? Anyway, my question is: would it be beneficial (or possible, even) to replace it with a turbo the same as the ones used on the new FGs? Ive heard that theyre smaller so it comes on boost quicker, but would it simply bolt on in place of the stock one? Not that Im jumping to conclusions, Ill have a mechanic check the extent of the damage first of course. Or perhaps its still early days to assume the reliability of the new gear? Any thoughts...? Neo, I think your ride looks sweet with the chome tail lights, as opposed to black! I have the same in black, I think it suits my car pretty well. dont have pics but its red, with pretty dark tint so it suits, the rims are the machined black type also. Previous owner installed them and I left them on... cant stand seeing the stock red lights on red paint!

hrmmm... what about the xr5 turb? perhaps too girly; I dunno Ive never driven one. Or a wrx with the worlds loudest BOV, as long as you dont mind tight shirts and excessive hair gel. Lol.

Hey everyone, Anyone out there have any idea what would be involved in installing another turbo on my 02 xr6t? Has anyone heard of it done before? Are there kits available? Any help/advice would be much appreciated!
