Actually it is overall tyre diameter, not rim diameter. Perhaps you should check your facts before posting. Rim size in only a factor in some states (from memory W.A. has very strict rim sizes), where QLD, NSW & VIC all run on the tyre diameter rule. The attached link is the Queensland Transport vehicle modification brochure which shows the rules quite clearly. In QLD, NSW & VIC your only allowed to increase overall tyre diameter by 15mm above the largest factory option (on your tyre placard). The BF XR6T gives you either P235/45R17 or P245/40R18 which means you can use the larger P245/40R18 (653.2mm) and add 15mm, giving you a maximum diameter of 668.2mm. Keep in mind that various brands have slightly different diameters, but generally it's only a matter of 1-2mm on the same size tyre. You can then use a P245/30R20 @ 655mm legally. You can't use a P245/35R20 because it has a diameter of 679.5mm. As far as I'm aware the only legal 20" Tyre that will also fit the front of these is the Nankang NS2000 in a P245/30R20 #95W. I make a point of looking at every XR or FPV I see parked and I'm yet to see a legal tyre package. If anyone comes up with another option I'd like to know as this is all that's stopping me going for a set of 20's. ps :- If there are any FPV F6 owners out there I'd be interested to know what your placard states, as if there is an option for a 19" for example with a lower load rating it may be possible to put an FPV placard on our XR6T's (providing it does not specify FPV on the placard. You can't put a narrower tyre than the narrowest factory option. In the XR6 that's a 235/45R17. No point worrying about correct load rating if your tyre width is illegal as well.

The Standard fitment 17" Tyres are 235/45R17 which are 643.3mm Diameter, while the Optional 18" Tyres are 245/40R18 which are 653.2mm. While this gives you an actual diameter difference of 10mm, this will only increase your car height by 5mm overall. Go for it. Regards Craig
