Dillz, Any update on the cruise for charity. Still on? Not many responses it seems but given the cause I will be there regardless. Cheers, Coop.

Hey guys, Actually had the same question as since I bought my 03T I have had the same vibration issue. I have had all four wheels balanced twice at two differnt tyre outlets, asked them to check if a rim was out of round or buckled, and had the rears put on the front but still have the same problem. The steering vibration only starts around 90-95kmh and gradually gets worse from there as speed increases. Both of the tyre outlets, of which friends of mine did the work, said that certain types of tyres for some reason do go out of round, and they have had quite a few people with the same brand, Goodyear Eagle F1's and Dunlop Sports, have come in with the same problem. If it isn't the tyres, do the BA's have steering/ suspension wear issues that may be causing the problem, because to be honest, it is giving me the sh%ts and I'm not going to waste $$$ replacing the tyres with 75% tread left if it isn't the cause of the vibration. Does anyone on here work at a tyre outlet that has seen the problems on XR's first hand? Cheers.

Got the same attitude from a tuner a few months back when a mate of mine and I went out to have a face to face chat about mods. Didn't want to listen to what we wanted and bagged everthing he didn't sell or endorse. Dags, can we at least mention the area (north, east etc)that the tuner is located so others know to beware???

Count me in Dillz! Great cause and look forward to finally meeting some of you guys and girls in person. How do we pay the entry fee?

Thanks Seduced, did not know they run a chain. Learn something new every day! Bought the car 4 months ago and don't have any detailed receipts of servicing. Even if I did the services were doen at Ford dealers so I wouldn't believe the service invoices anyway. Would a Ford dealer ever change the trans fluid and filter on a service before 100,000kms? Doubtful. Do the timing chains on the engines normally get a little noisey when they get a few kms on them or is an the idler pulley more likely to be the culprit?
-
Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Funnily enough they don't mention anything in the 'A' service schedule from Ford about replacing the filter/ fluid in the trans, brakes, power steering, plugs, leads, fuel filter, or anything other than engine oil and filter. They state that all of these fluids are just a check. How dodgy is that! Might be a silly question but, is there no requirement on these engines for any internal replacement of parts (timing belt etc) around these kms? When I have a close listen at the front of the rocker cover it sounds pretty noisy internally. Is they normally like this? It doesn't sound like a water pump or tensioner pully bearing.

Hi all, I drive an 03 T auto that has 96000km on it and is obviously coming up for its 100000km service in the next couple of months. Does anyone know, if I were contemplating completing this service myself, does this service entail any particular checks or replacements of parts besides oil and filters? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Coop.

I,d also be up for a deal on King Springs. How much does the SL and SSL take the hieght down from standard in a BA? Cheers.
-
Hey guys, I have also just bought a T in the last 3-4 months and would like to meet a few of the guys and girls in the Western suburbs. How about we arrange another cruise in the next month or so? Where is a good place in the west to go for a cruise? Cheers.

No, just flaking on the outside. Would VHT high temp paint last on cast alloy or tend to flake off after a while as well? If I were to get it sand blasted, most auto elec's have sand blasting chambers to clean up and reco alternators and starter motors don't they? Thanks.
-
Dollars permitting, I will change the cold and hot side piping, but in the meantime the standard flaking crossover looks sh1t! Any thoughts or ideas appreciated!
-
Hi all, Have just decided to give the throttle body an inner clean and throw some WD40 into the boost solenoid. Whilst taking the crossover off I was not impressed by the amount of black coating that had peeled off the crossover due to heat. What would be the best solution to cleaning it up and making it look decent. Would a good clean up and paint with VHT high temp paint do the trick, or would this not last? Thanks, Coop.

G'day Tony, as has already been said, it will take some time to get used to running your T and sorting the best way to get it off the line. Given your MPH you should crack a low 12 fairly easy. I have just bought an 03 T myself not long ago and was thinking of taking it to the strip for a run as standard, then start a few mods. Let me know when you are going to run it again and I might head out as well! Coop.

Absolutely! After following Touring Cars/ V8 Supercars for the last 15-20 years, like a lot of the long time fans, I reckon I've had enough of watching a two make series (which is not a bad thing) when there seems to be no end to the merry-go-round of driver and manufacturer change season after season. Bring back the Group C series and let all manufacturers have a crack!

Thanks for the replies. Have bought both now. -
Have many others done this to their airbox and found good results? Rick, can you give anymore detail as to exactly how you went about modifying the airbox? Cheers.

Thanks for the info Tim. I had a look on ebay and couldn't find either. Anyone have any idea where else I could grab some? -
Hi guys and girls, Have just bought an 03 T after 18 months of procrastinating and want to add some external bits and pieces. Are there many differnt types of inserts and how do they fit? Can I buy both the grill insert and lamp protectors on here, or do I have to look external. Thanks for your help in advance. Paul.

Didn't get to see the accident through the link but I have followed the NHRA for the last 14 years and this family has put so much into the sport of drag racing in the States that they will miss Scott Kalitta and mourn for him for years to come. Does anyone still have the a link to footage of the incident?

Congrats on the bold move Judd. We had only one XY GT as we couldn't find another car for hire on the same day, and nobody owns two!!! at the time to match it. It was a totally original car in white with the usual stripes and shaker. The wife arrived in it, and we let for photos in the car after the service absolutely sideways in a cloud of smoke. The owner wasn't scared to give it some when you asked him. That was 10 years ago, and I still think I would choose the same type of car now if I were to have the choice.

Hey boys and girls, What is your opinion on the current pommy car shows on commercial TV at the moment. We seem to have two main contenders, Fifth Gear and Top Gear! Fifth Gear seems to give you more detailed info on the car and at least have two guys, Tiff and Jason Plato (Brit Touring Car Driver) who test and race the cras featured until they plough each other off at every second corner. Top Gear on the other hand, has made a name for itself by having a laugh (normally at James May)and a different celebrity every week to see if they can take themselves out around a fairly quick race tarck in something equivalent to a Hyundia Excel (better than doing it in a Holden), and seem to interested in testing the cars on offer in situations that having nothing to do with actually owning one! I heard a while ago that they were looking for hosts in Australia for a local version of Top Gear. Has anyone heard if they are doing an Australian version? It can only be better than the pommy version and hopefully review a few turbo Fords on the show?

Thanks tab, that corner I was talking about sitting in now sounds even better. Nice result from what I have seen Doog. Keep up the mods and go Lion hunting!

Thanks for the welcome, and I have not come across another site where the people are as welcoming and knowledgeable about the machinary they drive as this one. I have read that much on the site about T's and the mods that can be done that you get to th epoint that you don't know whether to buy a BA or BF, Mk1 or Mk2, or do I spend another $1000 on the Bike and curl up in the corner to have a think! Please correct me if I'm wrong, but don't BA's and BF's produce roughly the same KW's standard? If they do, given that it will take more mods to get the same performance from a BA as what you have acheived with your BF, are you just better off spending a bit more and buying a BF from the get go?
-
Hi guys, As usual, new to the site. I have been looking at purchsasing a BA T to replace the stupidly fast and dangerous motorbikes I ride on a daily basis. Looking at the performance that Doogstar has gotten out of a barely modified T, is this the type of performance you could expect of a BA T with the same mods? Cheers, Coop.
