Well hello to all.. After lurking for nearly 18 months I have finally got round to posting... As you can seen by my name I was hoping to get an XR6T. Well I did - Sept 03 build, manual, blueprint, grey interior, premium sound, alarm, xr mats, scuffs, towbar. After 30000km I decided to share my thoughts. About me: Age 35, male, married with 2, love beer footy cars and the female form. Previous rides: 1. 73 escort (good first car) 2. 72 HQ wagon (bought for $500, 4years, 3engines later sold for $1200!) 3. 83 XE wagon (my first car loan) 4. 87 Skyline Silhouette (great engine) 5. 93 Futura (my first new car, kept it 4 months, hated it-handled like a hovercraft after the skyline and put me off autos for ever) 6. 92 EB XR6 (loved it. had a few probs but went hard, great on fuel, handled great. Kept it 5 yrs) 7. 97 EL XR6 (great. didn't keep it long as decided to start leasing) 8. 00 Liberty RX 2.5 (Excellent car. 70000kms of hard driving and never complained. I missed the XR grunt though) 9 The XR6T. (other second cars along the way- an EH, sigma wagon, skyline wagon - currently 99 magna wagon). This site has been a great source of info. From making the decision on what to buy, which options, a great laugh, info about problems etc. It seems to me that the tone of the place is a lot more negative nowadays. Some of you guys are having some serious problems and getting nowwhere trying to get them fixed which is just not good enough. I feel for you guys! My car has been relatively trouble free (thankfully). When ordered I was told 3 months wait - and that's exactly how long I waited. It arrived in near perfect condition (one door seal a bit askew), after me being pesimistic about going back to a ford after a subaru. I love the whoosh, the handling, and the envious looks. I dislike the small fuel tank, the inaccurate trip computer, the handbrake? noise and I miss climate control. I had the front disks machined recently for the first time at about 26000 and have just replaced the tyres. (my subaru brakes were done at 20 and the tyres were bald at 22). I punt home though the hills most nights and give it a fair workout so couldnt be hapier with that. Insurance $692 with AAMI is bloody cheap for a car that goes like this too. And overall I'm very happy with the car. I was talking to a used car dealer at a lunch on friday who was bagging BA's in general and saying T's are terrible on fuel. I told him I had one and that I think it's great on fuel. I do 20 - 22 mpg city driving normally and on a recent adelaide-melbourne-adelaide trip did 30 mpg. my EL XR6 did the same around town with a lot less grunt ( the subaru did about 26 - 27 for the same driving and 33 was the best it did on a trip). For a heavy car with so much performance its economy is good I think. He said I was the first person he'd talked to that was happy with their T. Anyway it goes in for its 30000 service tomorrow with only a couple of issues. With the onset of the warmer weather and a/c use the idle is up the spout when pull up at lights (has stalled a couple of times) but dont know if I should say anything as that was when Nigheve's problems started. The other is the scrape scrape of the brake/handbrake which they said they couldnt fix last time. Anyway hello to all and sorry for the essay but at least I'm finally on the board!!
