Ba Series Ii 6 Speed

Guys, just heard an interesting rumor (can't divulge from where) that the next Falcon will have a GETRAG 6 speed manual trans. Apparently the Ford engineers do not like the shift quality and the NVH of the T56 6 speed trans either!

If this rumor proves to be a reality, what a hoot for all xr6t owners. A world class trans for the series II BA falcon. Maybe this trans will only be available in the FPV models, but what a massive step forward for mankind!

I am absolutely stoked. If this is true, we will all be able to upgrade the current T5 trans with the world's best 6 speed transmission at a reasonable price.

Hi peter... Dont ford and Getrag have a joint venture in europe since 2001...I can see BTR fading to nothing ... The name ZF has been thrown around as well........... :o

that's great news fingers crossed its accurate......would be nice to have a smooth shifting tranny, hopefully it will be as nice as the one I had in the bmw.

I know it's a laugh, but I do know it is a great strong smooth shifting gearbox.

l'd be suprised if Ford swicthed to such an expensive gearbox, what would be the use of a world class gearbox with a Flintstones driveline?

l personally would be much happier to retain the same boxes but have the money put into a driveline that had no lash and drived like a modern car. l will be very disappointed if BA2 doesnt address this issue, its almost enough to make me look elsewhere for our next car.

Hi Simon, that driveline lash getting too ya? Any other drama's so far? Hopefully my auto in the GT won't have this problem, was non exsistent in the turbo auto (note, thread hyjacking in progress). Cheers Buddy
