Hi guys,

Just for something different I decided to paint my stock BF rims gloss black.

Here are some pics. Sorry about the crap phone quality.

Just used spray cans. Sanded back, cleaned with thinner, 2 primer coats, 4 coats using gloss black engine enamel and 4 clear coat.

Great stuff im going to do my old XR BA 18 inch rims soon it makes your ute look so tuff!!!

I've been thinking I need to do this, your pics only confirm it! Nice stuff...cheaper than me buying new rims too so should tide me over nicely! Cheers for the effort of posting it up!

Which grit paper?

Steve something along the lines of 300-400 would be fine. I done these back in the day too haha

Which grit paper?

I used around 120 (it was a sponge) then to get into the tighter stuff I used a higher grit (medium) sponge folded in half. It’s so much easier than paper.

And I had really dirty wheels. Just go nice and light if using coarse stuff.

I found that if using really fine paper your there for ages trying to clean it out. Primer also sticks a lot better if you take the original finish off.
