You will have to enlarge the rear speaker holes to fit 6 x 9 in rear of BA (I pulled mine apart last night hoping to bolt them straight in - was a bit dissapointed). Check with rego first to see if this is allowed.

What model Alpine amp is it? I went to JB Hi-Fi on the weekend and they didn't have a single 5 channel amp in stock. What is the power rating? Is your system the Premium Sound?

the alpine amp is a V12 MRV- F353, I think it is either 800 or 1000w, it use to run a pair of 12" subs, pair of 6.5's and 6" splits no worries.

no I dont have premium sound.

Are you sure u can't fit the 6 x 9's in the parcel shelf? I was sure that my old AU2 had 6 x 9's in it. im not going to cut anything in the parcel shelf I would rather just go a pair of 6.5 speakers, and add a couple of subs for the bass.

How are you hooking the Alpine into the standard head unit? Or have you changed the head unit?

I am interested to find out what's in behind the Ford head unit, whether there is room to fit a DIN unit in the dash and what other input/outputs, if any, are on the back of the unit.

I am considering an XR6T as my next car, but am concerned about the reports of the difficulty of changing the unit or adding other components.

Any help you can give would be appreciated, by others too I'm sure.

Line to RCA converters is the only way.

This works ok cos the head unit is quite powerful and quality is still pretty good.

How ever I have heard if this is done, you may run into problems with warranty

Yes warranty issuses on the ICC if it becomes damaged or faulty...........its a crock of sh!t I know but....what can you do?

I say just do it and if it stuffs up then put it all back std.

If it can be done it can be undone!

mbrown42,

How bad was it getting the 6 x 9's in? Did you need to cut the metal rear parcel shelf or just the trim? Is it better to put them in from underneath?

I had to cut metal to fit them in the rear. To be honest, I wouldn't do it again myself. I would pay an installer to fit them.

It is certainly worth fitting good quality speakers because the difference in sound quality is quite noticable.

PHNTUM,

This is what I was planning on doing. I did this on a VT Late model camira but the head unit was only putting out approx 6 watts. All BA decks from the basic to the premium are 25 watts per channel (bet it's not RMS). My concern is whether 25w converted to RCA will cause an issue - I can't remember if my adaptor was OK for higher powered units.

I got the speakers fitted today.

I had to go totally different speakers to what I wanted.

all the gear is pioneer with 5 1/4 splits in the front, 5 x 7 in the rear, and a 15" sub in the boot. It is all running off a Alpine amp.

I am pretty happy with the result, I just have to save up some $$ so I can install a custom box and add another 15" sub.
