There were some places that were narrow and when people got stuck behind slow cars for to long they got impatient and took undue risk?

IMHO "Slowing" can be just as dangerous as Speeding, but that's just me.

Can us as normal drivers report useless drivers to the RTA ?

The reason I ask is you get some real morons on the road that are suffering from a sever case of NFI and I would like them off the road as their driving or inability to drive is risking my life and the lives of other road users.

I've often wondered. I too drive approx. 120kms a day. See a lot of incidents on the motorways, maniacs, incompetent drivers, the works. Doing this repetitive exercise each day does take it's toll so it's very easy for me to spark up if I see something idiotic happen before my eyes but usually feel, "Ah, why bother, what good will it do".

I live on the NSW Central coast. There is a great percentage of road users here that are elderly and quite commonly drive well below the speed limit. The only time it p1sses me off is when I am in a hurry somewhere. I lived in Sydney about 3 years ago and every time I was to drive somewhere, I would encounter many mindless idiots doing stupid things nearly causing accidents, etc. I was constantly driving with high blood pressure and aggressiveness. Since living up here, I am patient and relaxed when driving around 99% of the time, weather it be the laid back lifestyle or just mainly a tolerance for the elderly drivers up here moving at their pace. Although every time I have to drive down to Sydney.......the ol' blood pressure rises again and I get easily p1ssed off at other reckless drivers. My 10 cents worth.......

Drivers basically know that they can do whatever they feel like doing on most roads and they will get away with it as you will hardly see a patrol car cruising Shame on the NSW government :banghead: for this More Police presence on our roads would fix up bad driving habits in a real hurry instead the government would rather revenue raise

But usually the police pressence doesn't fix the bad driving habbits, it usually stops the speeding drivers but does nothing for people that don't keep left and cars driving too slow! I don't blame this on police becasue they are just doing their job. I blame it on the rules with too much emphasis on speeding and not enough emphasis on the causes of speeding and inpatience, for example incompetent drivers!! I have only ever done something silly on the road when I have been annoyed by the fact that half the people on the road shouldn't be there:

Here is a list of offences that should be policed.

1. Giving way unnecersarally(spelling) ,giveway signs and roundabouts.

I hate it when im approaching a roundabout and the person in front nearly comes to a complete stop when there is no one around!

2. Not keeping left unless overtaking. in speed zones of 80km/h and above.

3. driving to slowly. This can be applyed when there is a trail of cars behind one offender. Maybe it can be a Obstucting of Traffic type of offence.

4.not taking off quick enough at traffic lights( a big problem in sydney)

5.queing accross intersections (another cause of traffic jams and driver frustration.

Repeat offenders of these offences should be looked at as incompetent drivers and should be delt with like cars that are unroadworthy. with licences suspended until correct driver training in efficient driving is completed.

One thing that get me steaming,but not to the point where im gonna deck someone.

I drive a truck,it ways about 20 tonne empty,is 60 odd feet long.The other day I am approaching an intersection where the left lane veers off with it own green arrow(I am talkin about the 7 ways at miranda,approaching from sylvania to go to caringbah)

anyway,the lights go red for the traffic going straight on but the arrow for the lift lane remains green.THIS STUPID COW does a kamikazzie to pull in front of me (im doing about 50 kays) then stops at the "FUGGIN" green arrow.

I did what any one else would do -hit the brakes(trailer locks up) and blow the horn!

Then ,said COW(I hope she reads this forum) realises her blatant stupidity gives ME the finger and starts cursing ME.What did I do,I was just doing my job.Ifelt as though I should have just ran over the stupid woman(she would have been charged in that instance) but I did the right thing and I get abused. :banghead:

HEY GUYS......I agree with everything said here

there is a way you can release your fustration without words or physically abuse. My girlfriend is a cop......and when were driving around if she spots any traffic infringements e.g tailgating, not indicating, running lights, speeding, burnouts, travelling road blocks etc...

she gets the number plates, time/place of incident and description of driver and reports it to the nearest cop shop. The cops do investigate every report 50% of cases are followed up and fines are given.....and the best thing is anyone can do that..not just off duty cops.

I'm not a believer in the 'scarecrow' effect but I can see a time and place for marked cars.

In fact, after driving unmarked cars for 12 years, I feel much safer in the marked car that I have been driving for the past 4 years....

However...

I firmly believe there should be more unmarked cars so that recidivist traffic offenders can be caught.

I'm not referring to speeding, only excessive speed and general traffic infringements such as mobile phones, not indicating, not stopping at traffic lights and stop signs etc etc etc

I think the whole thing as been discussed to death on this forum. I'm interested in people's comments but suffice to say I don't think we can cover any new ground.

I don;t like speed cameras

I do like mobile radar

I don;t like the driver training system that is in place

I do think that Double demerit points work

I don;t think TINS are used for revenue raising

I do think there should be more unmarked cars

and last of all, I implore everybody on this Forum to have a real good think about their driving skills and invest in a defensive driving course will you will not only learn new skills but you may well change you attitude as to what is safe and what is not.

Driving is a skill to be learned....it is not a natural skill.
