Stab in the dark - I have no idea whats causing this issue - but maybe there is a battery/voltage issue which can cause weird symptoms.

It's a shagged battery. Mine used to do it.

Is it hard to start sometimes? Sometimes stalls after it starts? Your cruise control won't turn on either?

If it does any of these things I'm fairly certain it's the battery.

The battery part number 67ef.

Thank you for your reply my car does not have any starting issues I have tested the battery and thus charging system is ok everything else works perfectly in the car although I have noticed sometimes when I come to a stop it will start idling low as if it is about to cut out and then that catches itself and runs normal I thought that might have been a vacuum leak but I have solely searched for that and has come up dry it seems to be odd that only the fuel gauge and the RPM counter plays up but if I turn it off and turn it back on again it all works normal
