just gotta go pick it up ill tell you how the new gearbox is later tonight, hopefully the last gearbox replacement it'll need. having a gearbox replaced in 5 days aint bad I would of thought.

What the heck happened to your gearbox in 5 days BEAR??? Not good news....

Got it back now and given it a drive, alls good and but 5th gear is very tall so im not sure whether ive got the xr8 gearbox or the xr6t gearbox, ill figure that our tomorrow when the highway is clear.

the gearbox was delivered without a 5th gear, think it was a defective gearbox, no explaination was given when it was picked up so I dont know what was wrong with itbut at the moment the car goes great and everything works, just gotta check the in car phone, wasnt working properly, think it might be the because the radio was turned off. anyways ill get back to everyone about 5th gear, but the gearbox is 100 times better then the way it was delivered, shifts arnt guess work and its a bit notchy but otherwise its going great

oh and one last thing, NO MORE DRIVETRAIN SHUDDER!

So how come driveline shudder is also fixed?

Did they work on your diff also?

Hey Bear, How do you know if 5th is "tall" if you've never had a 5th gear?..& XR8 is only .05 different to the turbo box anyhow ( in 5th.I think .68 compared with .73).... But who cares,,,, shunt fixed ........5 usable gears , turbo, AND A FORD badge..........Mate.........This is living!!!

im not concerned at all as to which gearbox I have, the btr gearbox(I think that's the name of the xr6t gearbox) should run 100 km/h at 2000 rpm so people have been saying, so ill just take it along the highway for a bit and see where it sits at. Im just saying that 5th dosent pull when going 80km/h, but that's fine ill just use 4th :) . and the shift quality is much better, you can tell where a gear is, the old box it was just guesswork. The tremec gearbox( xr8 gearbox) is suppose to have a better shift quality so that's another reason why I say it might be the xr8 one, but in all honesty I wouldnt have a clue, just specualting.

I think they spent a day checking the whole driveline was up to spec so they might have replaced the diff aswell, as you can imagine ford was all over this and wanting to get it right as it had come off the line with a defective gearbox, so they checked everything just to be sure. But as for cars that ive had, this is rating as a 9.5 out of 10 ( gotta leave room for improvement if that's possible :) ).

and just to clarify I got the car last monday and it went in on last friday, and got it back today tuesday. Would have been interesting to know what was wrong but ford werent talkin so I dont know whats been replaced and whats stayed besides knowing the gearbox definately got replaced as it went down to melbourne to be looked at by ford technicians.
