I have installed full hid projectors with xenons into bf headlights.

hid projectors spread light different to halogen ones.

high beam is actually a "cutoff". when you flick the switch a solenoid moves the cutoff down allowing all light out.

I have put HIDs on my low beams of my mk2 with projector headlamps. Not a hard install, pretty easy compared to the kit I I stalled in my old gti golf which had a H4 lamps with low and high beam in them. The mk2 uses one H7 lamp for the low beam and another H7 for the high beams so danimal would be correct in saying that HIDs shouldn't be used for high beams both for ignition time issues, also longevity of the lamps and longevity of the ballasts.

From what you say here, do the Projector headlights in BF's produce a different pattern when high beam is switched on?

Anyone had much luck with this? I can't see how the HID globe will be held in place?
