Suddenly Having Overboost Issues

Featured Replies

#1

Hey guys my car has suddenly started to overboost,

Last weekend was power cruise and the whole weekend the car didnt miss a beat

It held its target 15 psi the whole time every time.

After power cruise I babied the car for a couple days. Then next time I went to hit full boost

It hit 20+psi.

First thing I did was reload the tune. It didnt change anything and car wants to keep making boost.

The car has had this specific 15psi tune for around a month now. It was always dead flat on 15psi. No dramas with it.

Today I replaced both hoses going to/from the boost solenoid and cleaned the solenoid with wd40. The

Hoses looked a bit sad and the new ones seem to seal a lot better.

Took the car for a drive and now it boosts to 17-18ish psi and holds there. Which I guess is an improvement.

I then tried my 17psi tune.

This tune when I first tried it a month ago never ended making more then 14psi. I told my tuner about it who

Offered to look at it but I

Said I really dont mind about it abd im more then happy with the 15psi for the time being, and its difficult to be without the car.

Anyway. Now this tune holds 17psi fine, which it didnt last time I tried it.

Which I think it weird.

What do you guys think is wrong? Could it be tune related? Even though it was fine for so long? Or what else

Could I try replacing?

The turbo has ported rear housing and 7 pound actuator.

Also, mine is an auto. Is it normal to have some boost spike between gear changes?
