A mates NA BFII is getting stuck in 'kick down'. I understand it's normal for ZFs to hold gears after a sudden lift off but it won't change up, even after a minute of driving. I believe he's only had it at highway speed(100k). Selecting sport and changing back to D fixes the problem. Any thoughts?

This happens to me quite often

All I do is take my foot of the throttle for 2 seconds then very gently hold my foot on the throttle to is smallest accelerating point then it realises I want to go up a gear

It doesn't make any difference, he's had the car for 3 years and it's never behaved like this before.

Edit: Also tried an ecu reset and checked for codes and nothing...

Called the local Ford dealer and also spoke to the auto gearbox place. No fault codes recorded.

I will post a video to describe this better, looks like we have a theory to test tomorrow and will post if it works in case anyone else has this issue..

The problem is caused by uneven wheel diametre between the front wheels. Something as small as one tyre being scrubbed out or mismatched tyres(even if same size).
