When I first start the car it gurgles, like air is trapped in the cooling system. it stops after a bit of driving.

has any one had this before? I did some research and apparently it is common for air to get caught in the heater core, so my plan is to cycle the heater on and off over a couple of drives, would this fix it?

cheers

edit: car doesn't over heat or heat up unusually quick and has more than enough in the coolant bottle.

Yes common, cycling the heater on off will do sweet fa unless its bf or earlier as after that they dont hae a heater tap, even early ones that the heater tap leaked on had it deleted by a superseded part. Remove your header tank cap and run it for half hour or so on flat ground, give it a few revs everynow and then, normally clears it up
