Hey guys well I've been thinking a lot about building a race car I have a ba falcon xr6t ute and I plan to make a super consistant bracket racing car it's not about going fast its about cutting the light and running the number this is possible with a turbo but I wanna do something different I am building a 460 ci sbf and putting the ba on a diet my last race in my turbo will be apsa on the 24th November, I have a built c4 by Al's race glides and a custom 9 inch still using abs, has anyone ever gutted a ba ute and how much weight can be taken out.

hmm seeing as though you're going to replace the driveline and are asking how to go lighter, why not just start with something lighter like a Cortina?

I would look at what happens with Calder too - if it shuts or goes dormant for a while, expect to see a number of well setup cars go on the market from Vic. Like Adelaide when AIR originally closed.

well I guess I better clear things up my falcon was previously a na which was passed down to me which I converted to turbo and has been good to me for the past 2 years. yes the easier option is to buy a cortina or capri but im young and I like modern cars so that's why im building the falcon into a race car, I have been in the drag racing seen for about 7 years and not once have I seen a turbo car do well I agree turbos are awesome to watch but for bracket racing the v8s are going to dominate. my 9 inch consists of a custom made housing, full spool, custom made axles and custom tonewheel for the sensors to pick up on.

groverider engineering done the housing I built the centre and took the measurements and sent them to strange engineering to make the custom axles to fit the tonewheel for the sensor.

Mine is under 1500kg's and nothing has been touched inside the car. Plastic Jaz's and carbon bonnet would get you to about 1450kg. A lot of that weight has been taken from the wrong end of the car though
