Which part? With 270kw it was fine.... why wouldn't it be with 300kw?

I think it'll end up as a bidding war Silver G6ET. You're about the fourth or fifth person to put they're hands up for them...

  • Glad I got mine when I did.

  • Might be a few people who will get upset here, but STIFLER do not sell your wheels. Take them off and stick them in the shed, your car will be worth more as a tradein or private sale with original wh

I find stopping from anything above 120ish it starts to shudder. it doesnt matter how much power you have, as the car will do 200 in stock form. the car doesnt like stopping from 200 though, so that's where the brake upgrade is a necessity. the next question is how often does the car see this speed and is it worth spending HUGE amounts to get it stopping efficiently from these speeds. to me, going down the $4000 rims plus $5000 brakes is just ludicrous, but I was was happy to spent $15000 on other areas of the car so I kind of drew a line in the sand as im not getting any of this money at resale.

all of this aside, im in an ego g6et and the car is in the shop now getting the 19s painted black. I would LOVE some orange/yellow callipers underneath the rims. I can justify a couple of grand to get the brakes, and its more to do with aesthetics than practicality as the car rarely sees more than 130ish on the freeway

It's not just the speed you stop from but also the acceleration rate and energy created from this and then having to dissapate this energy in stopping. There are plenty of articles about brake design etc.

So bigger brakes have a valid use with big powerful cars that can accelerate quickly. Not just the track but even on the street where others around you can do unpredictable things.

mostly this part

I'm pretty sure Ford have known for a while now that the Turbo 6's are over engineered- I seriously doubt that they would then go and under engineer the brakes on them??

if you need the brakes any more than say two applications in any hurry then they are pretty rubbish.

for day to day driving like pottering around in traffic they are fine I suppose.

I would say the brakes are the worst part of the mechanical package considering how much power they have.

Is that 300 rear wheel kw or flywheel? Stock is around 230-240rwkw, that's a 25% increase in power at the wheels.

Pookey aren't you about 14? Your budget didn't stretch to a G6E? At your age my budget didnt stretch to a HX prem and a pack of smokes!

Haha, I'm 20, turning 21 in September. I don't get the rest though...I'm a bit slow :P

Not slow mate, just young. Half ya luck. Google HX premier wagon, now that's gold. I did 300,000 in mine, all over Oz. Sweeet 5lt, all 120hp of it.

Yeah, that car was way before my time but it looks the goods. 120hp seems tiny these days though, haha. Thankfully, I've never had the urge to take up smoking so I don't have that problem :)

I'm still avoiding looking at my bank balance, it's missing too many zeros at the moment...
