Noisy Tyres ?

Hi,

I picked up my XR6T last Saturday.

But I've noticed on certain tarseal surfaces the tyre noise really drones through into the cockpit.

Any of you guys picking this up?, or do you just turn up your sound systems, or open the back windows to listen to the engine playing tunes through the exhaust ?

Try 42 PSI Front 36 PSI Rear. Noise will go away, handing better tyre wear fantastic

Theres not too much you can do with the Dunlops that are fitted to the car. Just enjoy the engine note I say.

I have to disagree with the tyre pressures quoted by Dallas. 30 psi as per the tyre placard is perfect for local running around, any higher and your ride suffers as well as excessive wear in the middle of the tread. Its great to reduce noise but that's about it.

You get it with the 18's as well and I get it worse on concrete roads Just rev it harder and enjoy the exhaust,turbo singing and wastegate flutter

I disagree with running 30psi hr1981. I have now got 28000 klms running the pressures DallasQLD quoted (although I run 38 in the back) and will probably still get another 10000. 30psi is WAY too low for 17's and 45 profile. I'll bet you can't find a tyre shop anywhere that would recommend a 30 psi pressure.... hang on... maybe Ford recommends 30psi so that the cracks that have appeared in some peoples tyre sidewalls won't occur???!!

Without turning this into another tyre pressure thread (oops, too late) I agree with hr1981.

I am running 33 in the back of mine, as higher pressure, plus majority of highway miles, wore out the middle of the tread, indicating over pressure.

My local tyre dude (beaurepaires) has also told me that 36 is too high for the sort of driving I do . Note, this applies to me, and may be completely wrong for someone else.

At present I am running 35 front, 32/33 rear. This gets increased at times for better handling (ie track days), but for the majority of driving (on Sydneys sh**ty roads) the lower pressures work well for me.

I've noticed that the tyres are noisy, when these wear out I will definately be looking at another brand of tyre.

What else s%its me about these tyres is the flat spot issue, ie. park the car overnight and in the morning the car feels like it needs a front end wheel alignment for about the first 5-10kms until the tyres warm up.

I put some German made tyre on my car half the noise

Called SAVA Integra

Got a bit of a drive comming up at least I wont have to have the cd flatout.

Trouble is I will be able to hear SWMBO SH#T she is winging already she has never been in the beast with the turbo kicked in
