Problems After Battery Relocation

Featured Replies

Since doing the work on my car and having it tuned I have had a few gremlins. A/c wouldn't kick in, doors won't always lock, slow cranking, flashes up with faults like airbag, car not in park (it's a manual) and a few others. I originally had the original battery leads extended from the original terminals. Last night shortened them by going straight from the battery to the starter motor and earthing it close to the battery. All problems seem to be gone except for the car not locking. It will lock sometimes but most of the time it won't. Any idea what I can do? Cheers

Im pretty sure someone had this exact same problem recently and it was because of voltage drop of using to small a wiring I think then used 0 guage to fix the issue its probably either that or an earth problem.

If u have long enough jumper leads id try running one from negative on the battery in its current spot to the orginal negative lead and try that if it works fine then its a earthing issue and u may have to move the earth for the battery, and if its doesnt its probably needs bigger wiring to the battery.

Its lookin like the fgs are not liking my terminal extentions.

Mine did this and I changed the battery.

Now your the 3rd person reporting this problem.

But no idea why running from starter didnt fix central locking :-/

Unless its damaged a battery cell or somethin.

I have tried the idea of running a lead back to the original earth and still the same problem. I have also tried different earths. I may have killed the battery while using a 12 volt light for a fair amount of time while working on it. I did charge the battery after that though. The cable in stainless' kit are bigger than stock too. Might go and get the battery checked and see what they reckon. The only other thing I can think of is that I still have the original wiring running to the fuse box. Could that be a drama?

Try changing the battery in the key remote.

What size cable did you use? What have you grounded the battery to?
