G'day guys,

Ive been looking at installing a sub into the factory space on the BA parcel shelf so I can still keep my boot space.

Ive got an amp with high level inputs and was wondering if anyone knew if a BA without premium sound still had the loom in the boot for the factory sub and amp.

I wanted to use the sub audio leads for input instead of the speakers so that I only had a low pass input.

I tried using my 12" sub n amp and using the rear speakers for the input and I couldn't seem to get enough power or volume into the sub. It still worked but sounded like crap.

I'm thinking of using an 8" Jaycar driver and a small amp to mount in the boot n just Dynamat the parcel shelf to help out a bit.

Anyone got any suggestions for me?

you need an ampifed LOC, like the LC6i or smilar to get any good aount of drive into an amp.

not sure if u have the amp wring there , remove the carpet on the passenger side of the boot(fuel filler area)

and lok for a decent size connector (about 12 pins).

the sub output wont work unless the ICC sees the factory amp on the CAN bus.

so the rears or fronts are all you have , I may have an LC6i for sale shortly

Hmm I don't think I have any plugs behind the carpet. Theres a loom there but I'm pretty sure that's just for the tail lights or something. I'm not sure if ill bother with an LC6i but I might have to if I cant get enough volume out of the amp.

The amp I'm using is a mono block so its only really made for low frequencies but the sub still just sounds like a big bassy speaker.

So does the LC6i boost the signal that comes from the speakers cos at the moment the sub only seems to put out a tad more bass than a pair of 6x9's would.

yes mate , had the smae prob when first installed subs , I used aeropro line convertor , and then tried a fusion amped ine convertor , both were pretty poor results. soon as I whacked the LC6i in, off it went soundin great!

will the LC6 support 2 4ch amps? I had a quick read of the manual online and it shows 3 amps however they've got it wired as 1 amp for the fronts, 1 amp for the rears and an amp for a sub. that leads me to believe that I would be able to have a single 4ch amp and a single 2ch amp (6 total channels) can anyone with the LC6 verify if this is correct? just means I would have to dump the idea of 2 subs and go for a good single sub.

cheers and sorry about hijack.

LC6i gives you 3 sets of L and R channels , you can sum some channels or stand alone .

most common configuration is:

Channel 1 = front left

Channel 2 = front right

Channel 3 = rear left

Channel 4 = rear right

Channel 5 = sub left

Channel 6 = sub right

you would input audio from the ICC as:

Ch1 = FL

Ch2 = FR

Ch3 = RL

Ch4 = RR

Channel 5 and 6 will be a link to ch 3 & 4

allowing level control for the subs (good if u get the remote level control if your sub amp doesnt have one).

if you have Premo sound in your car already you must disconnect the Factory sub amp in the boot.

(when the amp is detected on the CANbus the ICC applys high and low pass filters to different channels.

but you want full range sound on the LC6i input)

no worries bout the hijack.

any questions feel free to PM me

hope that clears it up for you

sorry assed that all up

ch 1&2 = RL & RR

ch 3&4 = FL & FR

ch 5&6 = SL & SR

Ch 5&6 are linked to 1&2
