Which Version XR6T Do U Own?

Hi how ya goin im ben and new 2 this site, been looking around found the site 2 be great, very imformative but what type of XR6T are most people here actually driving? sedan or ute?

just curious as to what the percentages of users on this site actually own, im looking at selling my 1989 nissan exa and going halfs with my dad in getting and XR6T tray back style ute cos ive started an apprenticeship as a carpenter (with my dad) and doing uni part time, my exa was ok as a run around, but its come down 2 the fact that I need a ute, was planning a tutbo conversion for ma exa, but that will solve the issue of having a fairly hot car, but doesnt solve the practicality issue... where as the XR6T solves both also if anyone here does have the ute version what are your thoughts on it? am I being wise in choosing the XR6T tray back ute as a work vehicle? ive read all the posts on problems with them coming out from factory etc etc kinda sounds scary 2 me and all ive had are problems with my exa (which after spending lots of cash are all fixed now) I dont really wish 2 go through another nightmare with a 2003 model car... thanks guys hope 2 hear from yas...

What version?

I have an XR6T V1.0

I have to apply the Version 1.1 patch which apparently fixes brake shudder, windscreen squeel, handbrake bind and the odd engine stall.

I don't think you can buy XR6T tray backs from ford, you will probably have to get it put on. However, I have seen a blue XR6T with some other kind of back on it, it was like a tray back which had a big lock up thing on it. Looked good!

I've seen a phantom BA XR6 tray back. Looks good. I don't think it was a 'T' though - no badges, and only single pipe out the back.

I think you can order a tray back on a turbo, but it costs a bit more (than a standard tray back). Someone here will know for sure.

Basically you have to buy a xr6t ute from ford and then the dealer can arrrange for you to have the flat tray put on buy any number of companies that do it.

I saw last week a new xr8 ute with a flat tray on the back and sittiing in the tay was the original paited ute back upside down.

Not a bad idea for the resale as you get the nice interrior + good engine and when it comes to the point of selling all you need to do is put on the brand new painted ute back that's been gathering dust over the years

I didnt know you couldnt get the tray back "off the shelf" so to speak, on the ford web site I was looking at the xr6t, then followed the link to transport options, I was unaware that these transport options were I guess aftermarket items, that's good 2 know anywayz!

Only reason I want the tray back is cos I know that the tray will get damaged no matter how well I look after it considering itll be used for work, my gfs dad has a ss painted body ute that he uses for work, but every 6months it has a bookingat the panal beater for touch ups and dings (that's what comes from owning your own successful business I guess) but for me I wont be able 2 afford that sorta care, its a good point bout having a perfect tray though for resale!! thanks heaps for the replies guys will hopefully become a "official" member when I purchase it :D until then its great viewing all the threads etc, like I said very imformative website!!!
