Is It Worth Doing The Wastegate Mod Up First?

As above states,

Just bought an xr6turbodevelopments pipe/cat and adaptor for my ute, and a Xcal3, thinking I might do the wastegate valve mod upfront before I get it tuned

as I don't like spiking and dropping boost levels. So it means I dont have to go back again later to get I tuned.

How bad is the boost spike/drop on these F6's?

Any help would be appreciated, thinking of buying a cooler kit and intake aswell.. Not sure though..
