stepped up and bought a new set of wheels yesterday!!! Climate control air, leather, premium sound, sunroof,17 inch rims,5 speed, body kit, 6 stacker CD, electric seat adjustment and a whole host of other goodies!. But the best part of the whole deal was the service! and great trade on a VS Commodore(9 grand). Strato Blue is the colour and you can guess it ain't a Ford, it is a Mazda6 Luxury Sports :D

And the reason for buying the Mazda? Simple really. You get treated with respect and geniune interest instead of the high handed arrogance you get from the majority of Ford salespeople, and GM-H too I might add! And the warranty issues! As I said simple really.

You can put me down as the one that got away! Learn something from that ,Ford Australia!

Yep and that makes it more frustrating because the Mazda people have a lot of good sales people, the parent company keep all the ning nongs to undermine the sales of the Falcon!

Hmmm. What are my priorities? - Do I want to be treated with "respect and interest" by a salesperson or do I want the best car I can get for my purposes and budget?

No contest really, but that's just me. Realistically, the respect of a car salesman is a commodity of dubious value and the interest factor is often linked to their perception of the potential $$$$.

(Anyway, I reckon I got both from my dealer - so no "difficult" choices)

Zeke

Not knocking the Mazda - nice car within its limited aspirations.

The Madaz is a Great car don't get me wrong but I hope you don't want good resale value. Not sure about Aussie but over here Mazdas don't hold there price well. I got great service with my car and Ford dealers I went to before this dealer were arrogant rude and lazy! Good to see a man that has princibles. :tonguepoke:

Missing the point people. Human nature being what it is ask yourself how many sales Ford dealers have lost due to lack of service, warranty issues, product knowledge(Plonky has made us all aware of this). People just don't like getting stuffed about and will walk. I still have my XR6 and she is with me for another couple of years before I upgrade and it will be a Ford but I will have to find a dealer with principles or in other words some one who will not stuff me about! Her indoors is extremely happy with the Mazda6 and if shes happy I am happy because then she ain't picking on me!

But seriously if Ford aspire to be #1 again for any length of time(more then a month) they have some work to do.

I think you are getting a little confused between Ford Motor Company and Ford Dealers, everything you are saying is in respect to the dealers, if you have a bad salesperson go somewhere else! If you have trouble getting warranty issues sorted out go somewhere else! You can't say that all dealerships are like that just because they sell Ford vehicles, sure there are bad dealers that need a lesson in customer service but on the other hand there are some really good one, and that goes for any brand of car!

With respect to your decision the M6 is a nice car, well equipped in Sports Lux mode (Kitty and I drove one and walked away knowing it wasn't the car for us) but overall it's not in the same class as any of the Ford products.

We bought the XR6T despite the dealers best efforts to annoy us, the Mazda people on the other hand were great (as were most other franchises) and becuase it was a car that met all and exceeded many of our benchmarks - somethign the M6 didn't.

I knwo the M6 will make and keep you happy ;) Mazdas are good cars that rightfully enjoy a solid reputation these days.
